After her marriage, Smt. Sulam Lakshmi Devi was blessed with two sons. Tragically, one of her sons passed away at the age of 13 due to long-standing health issues he had suffered from since he was four years old. This heartbreaking loss deeply impacted her, inspiring her dedication to social service. Her other son is currently living in America. During her first son’s illness, Smt. Lakshmi Devi faced severe financial difficulties and received no support from her relatives. These challenges profoundly affected her life, instilling her resolve to help others in similar situations.

One pivotal day, Smt. Lakshmi Devi shared her heartfelt vision with a visitor who visited her house. She expressed her desire to transform the lives of those in need, especially women, who often face significant economic and social challenges. In memory of her beloved son, she initiated a series of programs to empower women to achieve self-reliance and financial stability.
Recognizing the importance of skill development, she started providing training programs such as sewing machine courses. These courses equip women with valuable skills to generate income and support their families. By offering such practical training, Smt. Lakshmi Devi empowers women to break free from the cycle of poverty and build a better future for themselves and their families.
In addition to skill development, she organizes Women’s Day events. These events serve as a platform for women to unite, share their experiences, and support each other. The activities and interactions during these events foster community and solidarity, helping women feel less isolated and more empowered.
Her wish is deeply touching: she hopes to be called “Amma” (Mother) by children who remind her of her son. This heartfelt desire reflects her nurturing spirit and commitment to providing maternal care and support to needy children.

She plans to use resources from her other son’s funds to establish this hospital under the banner of her foundation. Empowering Communities: Initiatives by Vikasitha Foundation
- Under the auspices of the Vikasitha Foundation, free sewing training was provided to women.
- In collaboration with Sada Me Seva and Indians Gulf Seva Samiti, President Palaka Hanmantu and team members – Atidhi Lakshmi Garu, Mangadevi, Nirmala Reddy, Jyoti, Reddy Nani, Mother, Bameshwar, Ramulu, Chandu, Chiranjeevi Sankurthi, Mohaddin, Ganesh, Venkateswarlu, and Ishwar organized a distribution program of 17 types of essential commodities for 10 disabled people under the auspices of “Kadapa District Proddutur town Vikasitha Foundation”.
- On the occasion of the 7th birthday of Lakshmi Teja’s second daughter Lokshita Reddy, CG Manohar Reddy, Vice President of Amma Helping Hands Kuwait, participated in the distribution of food to 100 elderly people at Vishwa Prema Vriddashram in Proddatur town, along with cake distribution at Vikas Vihar School for the Handicapped.
- The inaugural function of Shanti Mahila Abhyudaya Seva Samiti Trust was held on Tuesday at Matsya Colony in Proddutur town. During this event, Vikasitha Foundation President Sulam Lakshmidevi Garu and Shanti Mahila Permahan Seva Samiti Trust President VV Ramana’s wife, Mrs. Prashanthi, distributed six sewing machines to poor women.
- Recently, Ashok, a resident of Mudireddypalle village, Maidukuru Mandal, fell from the fourth floor while doing manual labour, severely damaging his arms and lower back. The president of Proddutur Vikasitha Foundation, Sulam Lakshmidevi, visited the injured Ashok and provided a bag of rice and other essential goods to assist him.
- At Asha Nilayam School for Deaf and Dumb Children on Pulivendula Road in Kadapa town, under the direction of Vikasitha Foundation President Sulam Lakshmidevi, a celebration was held with cake and food distribution for the first birthday of Muripeeti Sanvik, the son of Venkatesh Garu and Bhanu Garu of Dinnemidpalle village in KV Palli Mandal.
- Dr Nagarjuna, in collaboration with Janani Seva Samiti, handed over two sewing machines to Saraswati and Shirisha at the Free Sewing Training Center under the auspices of the Vikasitha Foundation.
- On the occasion of Addipalli Balaraju’s Bhuvika birthday, the Vikasitha Foundation organized a food donation program at Mother Teresa Seva Vurdhashramam and Siddhartha Institute in Proddatur.
- Free sewing training was conducted at the Free Sewing Training Center under the auspices of the Vikasitha Foundation.
- Nehru Yuva Kendra District Youth Officer Manikantha Garu called on every woman to reach great heights with determination and compassion. Under the joint auspices of Nehru Yuva Kendra and Vikasitha Foundation, International Women’s Day celebrations were held at the Central Special Women’s Jail in Kadapa town.

- Vikasitha Foundation organized a significant human rights awareness program at Vagdevi Institute of Technology and Science in Proddutur, commemorating International Human Rights Day. Participants engaged in discussions and activities to promote respect for human dignity, equality, and justice within the community.
- Lifestyle for Environment Awareness Program
- As part of the “Mission Life Meri Life” initiative, the Vikasitha Foundation collaborated with Nehru Yuva Kendra to conduct a lifestyle awareness program focused on environmental conservation in Proddutur. Led by Mr. N.V. Diwakar, Deputy Forest Officer, and Smt. M. Hemanjali, Forest Range Officer, the program highlighted sustainable living practices. Dr Varun Kumar Reddy and Sulam Lakshmidevi from Vikasitha Foundation actively participated, emphasizing the preservation of natural resources and the promotion of eco-friendly behaviours among community members.
- Child Rights Day Celebration
- Celebrating Child Rights Day on 18th November 2020, the Vikasitha Foundation partnered with the AP NGO Federation to launch “Diksha,” an initiative to raise awareness about children’s rights. The foundation conducted educational sessions in AP primary schools to empower children with knowledge about their rights, including the right to education and life. These sessions were designed to foster a supportive environment where children feel empowered to advocate for their rights and contribute positively to society.
Community Resilience: Vikasitha Foundation’s Compassionate Initiatives
- Essential Commodities Distribution in 41st Ward Harijanawada
- In partnership with Bushetti Rajasekhar, the Vikasitha Foundation coordinated the distribution of critical commodities to 80 families residing in the 41st Ward Harijanawada. This initiative aimed to alleviate the hardships faced by vulnerable households, ensuring they had access to necessities during challenging times.
- Support for Volunteers and Essential Workers
- Guided by Chairman Sulam Lakshmi Devi’s leadership, the Vikasitha Foundation distributed essential commodities to volunteers, Asha workers, sanitation workers, and the 3 town CI Subbarao in Proddutur’s 41st ward. This effort recognized and appreciated the dedication and sacrifices of frontline workers who played pivotal roles in community health and sanitation, especially during critical periods.
- Relief Distribution During COVID-19 Lockdown
- Nagalakshmi Garu took the lead in distributing various essential items to families severely affected by financial losses during the COVID-19 lockdown. The distributed items included rice, oil, beans, rava (semolina), wheat flour, soaps, onions, garlic, chilli powder, salt, and dry tamarind. This compassionate outreach provided crucial relief to families struggling to make ends meet during the pandemic-induced economic downturn.
- Distribution of Eggs and Mango Greens
- Responding to nutritional needs exacerbated by the lockdown, the Vikasitha Foundation facilitated the distribution of eggs and mango greens to 300 families in Ward 41. This initiative, supported by Hari Krishna Yadav Pullakura Dharmendra, aimed to ensure that families had access to nutritious food items essential for their well-being.
