Journey of Leadership and Service: The Story of Gurala Sumanth
From the outset of my political journey in 2015 with the Telugu Nadu Students Federation (TNSF), I have been driven by a deep commitment to serve and empower the community. Joining under the guidance of State President Nadendla Brahmam Chowdary, I quickly immersed myself in various initiatives, advocating passionately for student rights and organizational goals. This dedication led to my appointment as District Vice President of TNSF in Srikakulam, where from 2016 to 2020, I focused on shaping strategic initiatives and amplifying student voices at the district level. My tenure was marked by proactive leadership in organizing impactful events and campaigns that addressed pressing student concerns.
In 2022, I assumed the role of District Parliament Spokesperson for TNSF in Srikakulam, leveraging my communication skills to effectively represent student issues to the wider community and government bodies. Simultaneously, as the General Secretary of Srikakulam Parliament, I continue to lead with a vision for inclusivity and empowerment, advocating for educational reforms and addressing socio-economic challenges faced by students. Throughout my political career, I remain dedicated to upholding the principles of TNSF, fostering civic engagement, and ensuring that student welfare remains a priority in political discourse.

Early Life and Education: A Journey of Learning
Mr Sumanth Gurala, born on June 14, 1994, in Ranastalam, Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, began his journey amidst the tranquil surroundings of southern India. From a young age, he exhibited a deep-seated passion for knowledge and a strong determination to excel academically. This early drive laid the groundwork for his future education and public service endeavours.
Formative Years: Building a Strong Academic Base
In 2009, Mr. Sumanth Gurala achieved a significant milestone by acquiring his Secondary School Certificate (SSC) from Government High School, Ponduru. This period not only showcased his academic capabilities but also his resilience in overcoming challenges. His dedication to his studies and active participation in extracurricular activities marked him as a promising young leader within his school community.
Higher Education and Academic Pursuits
Continuing his educational journey, Mr. Sumanth Gurala pursued his Intermediate studies at SRI GCSR Junior College, GMR Groups, Rajam, graduating in 2011. Mr Sumanth Gurala embarked on his political journey in 2015 by joining the Telugu Nadu Students Federation (TNSF). - In response to concerns raised in the Srikakulam local ZP office, an initiative was taken to increase the mess charges in BC, SC, and ST welfare hostels throughout the district. Recognizing the poor condition of many hostels, the district joint collector committed to addressing the issue by constructing new hostel buildings, providing night watchman security, and enhancing the infrastructure. A petition was filed, and the joint collector assured personal visits to the hostels to resolve the issues.
- To advocate for special status for Andhra Pradesh, the implementation of guarantees from the Partition Act, the release of funds for the Polavaram project, and the completion of its work, a bus trip was organized by various student and youth organizations, including AISF, AIYF, PDSU, TELUGU YUVATHA, TNSF, APNPS, CPI, and CPM. The journey commenced from Hindupur in the Sri Sathya Sai district on February 20th and concluded in Srikakulam on February 4th. A round table meeting was held at the local CPI office, Kranti Bhavan, chaired by AIYF District Secretary Srinivasa Rao, to discuss these issues.
- The Yuvagalam Padayatra Poster Inauguration, led by Youth Leader Nara Lokesh Babu and starting on the 27th of this month, was unveiled by Srikakulam Parliament Telugu Desam Party President and former Government Whip Sri Koona Ravikumar, along with Narsannapeta Constituency Incharge and former MLA Baggu Ramanamurthy.
- At 3:00 PM, under the auspices of the Parliament TNSF Committee, a Yuvagalam poster and plea program were organized at the helipad at Tamarapalli High School Ground. This event supported the Yuvagalam Padayatra initiated by the National General Secretary of the Telugu Desam Party, Mr. Nara Lokesh Babu.
Education For Poor Students
- The TNSF Srikakulam committee criticized the Jagan Reddy government for restricting access to foreign education for poor students. Under the previous Telugu Desam government, 4923 students were provided with foreign education opportunities, whereas the current government has limited it to only 213 students. Additionally, the committee highlighted the discrepancy in funding, noting that 20 crores were spent on advertisements while the required expenditure was only 19 crores. They also condemned replacing Ambedkar’s name with Jagan Reddy’s for foreign education programs. The Srikakulam Parliament Committee submitted a petition in protest at the Ambedkar statue.
Yuvagalam Padayatra Closing Meeting at Bhogapuram

On December 20, 2023, Mr. Sumanth organized and accompanied a contingent of 100 enthusiastic youths to attend the culminating event of the Yuvagalam Padayatra in Bhogapuram. Over the course of two days, they actively participated in various activities and programs aimed at promoting community engagement and awareness. Their involvement underscored their commitment to the cause and their dedication to contributing positively to societal initiatives.
- The Amadalavalasa Constituency’s Kogunuru Mandal Boddepalli Panchayat organized the “Idem Kharma Mana Rashtriya?” program, where former Telugu Desam Party MLA and Srikakulam Telugu Desam Party President, Hon’ble Sri Koona Ravikumar, along with mandal leaders, participated. As part of the Telugu Desam Party’s 41st Inauguration Day celebrations, a cake was cut, and floral tributes were paid to the portrait of Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao.
- Mr. Kuna Ravikumar, President of the Srikakulam Telugu Desam Party, presided over a meeting to celebrate the centenary of the party’s founder, Vishwavikyata Natasarvabouma Sri Nandamuri Tarakaramara Rao. The mini Mahanadu program involved discussions on program management with the presidents and general secretaries of the District Parliamentary Committee and affiliated societies.
- In light of the Manipur riots and violence, efforts were made to ensure the safety and well-being of students from Srikakulam trapped in Manipur. TNSF General Secretary Sumanth Gurala, TNSF President Balaga Praharsha, Srikakulam Constituency TNSF President Reddy Girija Shankar, Narasannapet Constituency President Gaurinaidu Menda, and TNSF Committee Members participated in these efforts.
- To celebrate the 100th day of the Yuvagalam Padayatra led by National General Secretary Shri Nara Lokesh, a solidarity event was held on 15-5-23 in Amdalavalas Constituency. Srikakulam Parliament Telugu Desam Party Presidents, former legislator Srikoona Ravikumar, chief members, activists, and especially the youth expressed their support for the Padayatra
- In the “Idem Karma Mana Rashtam” program organized by the Tandyam Panchayat in Lakshmipuram and SRN Colony, Srikakulam, Parliamentary Presidents and former legislators, including Srikuna Ravi Kumar, along with leaders from Kogunuru mandal, addressed the public about the misrule and corruption of Jagan Reddy. They collaborated with farmers to secure affordable prices for corn stalks, highlighting the government’s neglect in procurement.
- At a press conference held at the Srikakulam District Telugu Desam Party Office, Srikakulam Parliament TDP President Mr Kuna Ravikumar discussed the failures of the education sector under the YCP government. He also unveiled a poster detailing the shortcomings in various programs such as education, accommodation, and sales.
- In Amadalavalas Constituency, Kogunuru Mandal, Kogunuru Town, the Telugu Desam Party National General Secretary and Youth Leader, Mr Nara Lokesh Babu, celebrated the milestone of completing 2000 kilometres of his Padayatra. In solidarity, former Government Whip and Srikakulam Parliamentary Telugu Desam Party President, Mr Koona Ravikumar, led a walk from Rapaka Junction Market through Kogunuru Complex, concluding with a cake-cutting ceremony at the market premises.

- Members of the Srikakulam Parliament TNSF Committee, led by Srikakulam Parliamentary Telugu Desam Party President Mr Koona Ravikumar and Telugu Youth General Secretary Balaga Shankarabhaskar, staged a protest against the arrest of TNSF and Telugu Youth Mass Hunger Strike President Shri Nara Chandrababu Naidu. This mass hunger strike in the Amudalavalasa constituency received support from the Janasena leader.
