Vuravula Sankar(Padayatra Valmiki Sankar)

Vuravula Sankar popularly known as Padayatra Valmiki Sankar is the District Executive Member of Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh from the YSRCP.

Born and Education:

He was born on 10-02-1980 in Kothacheruvu village. His parents were Pothalaiah and Vara Laxmi.

Sankar earned his Board of Secondary Education from ZPHS, resided at Kothacheruvu in 1996. In 1998, He completed Intermediate at Sathya Sai Baba junior college. Sankar attained his Graduation(Degree) from Dr. Ambedkar Open University, Anantapur. He has completed ITI in the stream of Civil.

Political Career:

At an early age in 1996 Sankar joined the Politics with the Indian National Congress(INC) party. He became an active member by participating in all the events called by the party.

Sankar is a member of NSUI. The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) is the student wing of the Indian National Congress, which was established on 09-April-1971. The organization was founded by Indira Gandhi after merging the Kerala Students Union and the West Bengal State Chhatra Parishad to form a national student organization.

Sankar was elected as Mandal President of Kothacheruvu from NSUI and was appointed as Gorantla constituency In-charge in recognition of his hard work in constantly fighting over student issues.

In 2004, Sankar took charge as District BC Cell Joint Secretary of Anantapur.

In 2011, He joined the YSRCP after the Congress party merged into YSRCP. In 2012, He becomes YSRCP Party Activist by contributing to each and every program. He took part in Praja Sankalpa Yatra, Maro Praja Prasthanam, Vodarpu Yatra,

In 2013, The party has officially appointed Sankar as YSRCP District Executive Member from Anantapur and currently serving in the position.

Sankar contributed to various activities in YSRCP as a Party Activist

Sankar, who wanted Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy to enter politics, set up Chalivendram during the summer and distributed buttermilk and blankets to the elderly as part of a referendum in the Kothacheruvu Mandal.

He has been provided Protein food, Milk, fruits to the patients every year on the occasion of Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s birthday and also conducts Blood donation camps, eye camps on that day, distributes free spectacles to the poor people.

Sankar and party leaders took part in Vodarpu Yatra organized by Y.S Jagan after the death of Y.S Rajasekhar Reddy.

He participated in the Sharmila’s Padayatra and walked from Idupulapaya to Ichapuram. Sankar’s Padayatra was successfully completed in 116 constituencies, 14 districts, covering a distance of 3112 km with Sharmila in 230 days.

Explaining to the people the Navaratnas Manifesto released by YS. Jagan Mohan Reddy during the elections, with the intention of seeing Jagan as the Chief Minister, Sankar did not repeat the 20-year history of the Kothacheruvu, and faced many setbacks and contributed to the victory of Sridhar Reddy with 4,000 votes in the current elections.

He has participated in Padayatra along with YS. Jagan Mohan Reddy and walked from Idupulapaya to Ichapuram.

Sankar made the welfare schemes introduced by the Jagan government known to the people and made them available to all deserving.

He was always responding to the anti-people rule in the Chandrababu government and ensuring justice for the people. At the same time, He participated in and supported Jagan in his movement on peasant issues, public issues, and handloom worker’s issues which he undertook while Y.S Jagan was in opposition.

Sankar roamed the villages for party membership and worked to strengthen the party with the help of local leaders. He supported the Samaikyandhra movement and held dharnas and protests for that the state is united.

He participated in every dharna called by the YSRCP state department. Sankar and party leaders campaigned extensively in 6 constituencies in the constituency for the victory of Kottakotta Somashekara Reddy, who contested as Puttaparthi candidate in the 2014 general elections.

YSRCP leaders honored Sankar, who walked along with CM Jagan to the end of the Praja Sankalpa Yatra and completed the padayatra. Since then “Sankar, popularly known as Padayatra Valmiki Sankar “.

Party Activities:

-YCP leader Zikria from Kothacheruvu town died of illness. Duddukunta Sridhar Reddy, who came to know about the matter, consulted their family members and told them to be brave. The event was attended by District Working Committee Member Valmiki Sankar, District Minority Cell Secretary Rafi, and District BC Cell Joint Secretary Ellappa.

-The YSRCP party office will soon open in Kothacheruvu Mandal, Kothacheruvu village in Puttaparthi constituency. On this occasion. State YSRCP Joint Secretary Charla Vijayabhaskar Reddy, District YSRCP Working Committee Member Sankar, and others visited the party office.

-Anantapur District YSRCP District Working Committee Member Sankar presents coconuts to Venkateswara Swamy on the occasion of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s departure on foot near Tirupati Alipiri Stairs.

-On the occasion of the completion of the Praja Sankalpa Yatra, YSRCP Raitu Rashtra President UP Nagireddy handed over a memento to YSRCP leader Sankar who walked along with the Jagan and completed the padayatra.

Service During Covid First Wave

• Sankar served a lot even in the covid crisis. He provided essentials, Masks, Sanitizers to the poor and village people.
• During the Pandemic Period, he distributed fruits, food packets, and water bottles to the road siders and also distributed blankets to them.
• He distributed food and rice bags to the migrants and also contributed to them financially. Also provided chappals for them.
• Sankar financially helped covid victims by providing vitamin tablets, masks, Sanitizers, and fruits.
• Created awareness on the maintenance of Physical distance and following precautionary measures to prevent the epidemic in Corona.
• Sodium hypochlorite solution was sprayed all over the village for safety of the village.
• Distributed vegetables and fruits to the village people and needy people in the covid-19 lockdown period.
• Conducted Annadhanam Program for the people who can’t afford money for food during the pandemic.

Service During Covid Second Wave

• Sankar provided his service during the covid second wave also. He distributes Covid kits to the village people.
• He provided essential commodities, Masks, Sanitizers to the village and poor people.
• Provided food packets, water bottles to the migrants, arranges buses to go to their villages.
• Conducted awareness programs to prevent Covid-19.
• Gave financial assistance to Covid-19 victims.
• He provided free food service to the municipal, police, front-line workers who worked a lot during Pandemic Covid-19.
• Distributes Rice, Vegetables to the Masks, Sanitizers to the Covid victims, and to the village people.
• Awareness camps and seminars were organized on the Covid-19 vaccine and about the effects of the virus.
• He donates food and clothes to poor and orphaned children during the Second Wave Corona and satisfies the hunger of many orphans.
• Sankar would bring oxygen cylinders to the areas where covid victims were being treated.
