Vaspari Shankaraiah

Vaspari Shankaraiah is an Indian Politician and Chairperson of the Alair Municipality. He strongly believes that a leader is someone who demonstrates what is possible. Shankaraiah, who has been in politics for over more than 20 years and is a loyal supporter of the people, has built a good reputation among the people.

Early Life and Education:

He was born on 10-06-1966 to the couple Pentaiah and Balamma and was raised in Bahadhurpet Village, Alair Mandal.

Shankaraiah obtained his Board of Secondary Education.

A career in Politics:

Shankaraiah always had the utmost zeal and enthusiasm to serve and help people in need. As a young boy, he offered his services voluntarily to the public. In 1994, he officially entered into Politics and started his political journey with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

He participated in every event and made a substantial contribution to the Party’s growth. Party officials recognized his ability to serve the needy in any manner possible at any moment as a party worker and were recognized as a key strategist for being instrumental in successfully working as Party Activist.

In 1995, He was elected as the first Sarpanch for the newly formed Grampanchayat named Bahadhurpet separate from Manthapuri  Village. He succeeded in developing his village in all aspects as

a)  Constructed new Grampanchayat Building and School in Bahadhurpet.

b) Laid CC Roads in Bahadhurpet and Constructed OSHR Tank & CheckDams in various places surrounding the village.

c) Lend many lands to poor people and made them owners of the land.

He made people satisfied by providing people necessities such as Bores at necessary places and constructed Drains. His humble service captivated the minds of the people, hoping that they would connect with him. The residents of Bahadhurpet elected him as Sarpanch for the second time in 2000.

He made the village proud of being developed within no span even with less budget. Due to certain circumstances, Shankaraiah left the TDP. In 2019, He switches over to the Telangana Rashtra Samiti(TRS) Party. Shankaraiah was a staunch supporter of our beloved Chief Minister Sri Kalvakuntla Chandra Shekar Rao from his early days, and this led him to join the TRS party.

Later, Shankaraiah contested as a Councilor of 12th ward Alair from the TRS Party. His active participation in the party made him promoted to Municipal Chairman from Alair Municipality in 2020.

As a result of his continuous efforts, the party authorities appointed him as Telangana State Municipal Chamber Vice President. During Shankaraiah’s tenure as State Vice President, he rose to become one of the most powerful leaders in the Mandal itself. Under the supervision of Shankaraiah, he did equal justice to the party and the people. The party’s high command praised his strategic and organizational abilities and this elevated him to Yadadri – Bhuvanagiri District President.

Establishment of Vaspari Foundation:

In 2018, Shankaraiah established the “Vaspari Foundation” an organization whose mission is to assist those in need. Numerous social projects are conducted on behalf of the Vaspari Foundation.

Social Service on behalf of Vaspari Foundation: 

• Shankaraiah conducted several programs like arranging Free Spoken English Classes for Village people in Vaspari Foundation.
• He helped financially volleyball players to compete in the Nationals.  At the event, they finished third nationally and received the Bronze Medal.
• He set up CC cameras in Alair.
• He donated money for the Ranganatha temple and other temples also developed. Shankaraiah helped financially according to the situation by providing financial support to poor people for their children’s marriages, distributing clothes at every festival, and financed the funeral.
• Shankaraiah has been organizing the Annadanam Program on the occasion of the Ganesh festival every year.
• He supplied Sports kits to the students for preparing SI, Constable in Alair Government school.

Party Activities :

• He actively engages in the Door-to-Door election campaign and worked hard to win the party in his neighborhood during elections.
• Shankaraiah was deeply involved in a variety of social service activities, including bringing numerous state and federal government schemes to the public’s attention and assisting them in receiving benefits, as well as maintaining strong and cordial relationships with people from all walks of life and in positions of leadership.
• He said that the growth of party beliefs is based on unemployment rather than faiths and castes and that he was drawn to the party’s ideals and works for the party.

Awards&Recognition:

• The Bahadhurpet grama panchayat awarded the Best Grampanchayat award for Shakaraiah’s tireless effort. The award has been given by former CM N. Chandrababu Naidu in 2002.
• Shankar was awarded as the Best Sarpanch for his impeccable services to the people of Bahadhurpet and honored with Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam in Delhi in 2005.
• He received the Best Grampanchayat Award from the District Collector twice.

Pandemic Activities:

• Shankaraiah acted humanely during the crisis, assisting individuals in distress and providing additional assistance to those afflicted by the lockdown.
• During the crisis, he responded generously, aiding those in need and giving special support to those impacted by the lockdown.
• He offered masks, sanitizers, and meals to the underprivileged, as well as financial assistance.
• For the public’s protection, sodium hypochlorite solution was sprayed all around the village as part of the effort to eliminate the corona outbreak.
• In response to Prime Minister Modi’s call, he organized a Covid Vaccination Drive to raise awareness among the general public about the need of receiving a free corona vaccination.
• During the pandemic, A door to door survey was organized and raised awareness about the virus covid and provided precautions to be followed.
