Sanjay Shamrao Dhotre is the Minister of Education. He was born on 26-February-1959 to Shamrao Dhotre. He earned a degree in Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical, Amravati College of Engineering, Nagpur University in 1981. He completed a Bachelor of Law, from Nathmal Goenka Law College, Akola, Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University. Sanjay Dhotre married Suhasini in 1983. They have two sons.

Shamrao joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. In 1999, He won the assembly elections in Murtajapur where he defeated Rathod Ramu of BBM by a margin of 4700 votes. In 2004, He was elected to the 14th Lok Sabha from Akola. In 2009, Shamrao was re-elected in the 15th Lok Sabha elections for a second term from Akola. He served as a Member of the Standing Committee on Rural Development also. He retained the seat for a third term from Akola by defeating Patel Hidayat Ulla Barkat Ulla of INC in the 16th Lok Sabha elections in 2014 and he became a Member of the Consultative Committee, Ministry of Agriculture, also appointed as a Member of Committee on Estimates.

  • In 2015: He became a Convenor of Sub Committee-III, Committee on Estimates.
  • From 2016-2017: He was a Member of the Standing Committee on Rural Development.
  • In 2017: He became a Member of the Standing Committee on Agriculture also appointed as a Member of the Business Advisory Committee.
  • In 2019: He contested and won the Akola Lok Sabha constituency where he defeated Ambedkar Prakash Yashwant of VBA by a margin of over 200000 votes. He was inducted into Modi’s Government Minister of State, Ministry of Human Resource Development which later turned into the post of Minister of Education, he also served as the ministry of Communications, and Ministry of Electronics and Information technology.

Minister Sanjay launched BANDHU, a self-help website dedicated to supporting the emotional well-being of the students of @iitbombay.moodi, along with Director, Lyricist & Screenwriter Shri @niteshtiwari22 Ji.

Minister Sanjay Attended the event organized by Netra Kamalanjali Hospital and Maternity Home, a felicitation ceremony for the families of those who donated their eyes after death and the Corona Warriors.

Minister Sanjay Dhotre inaugurated various newly constructed buildings of @iitroorkee with @DrRPNishank Ji. This building will strengthen the infrastructure of @IITRoorkee and I congratulate the professors and students there.

Minister Sanjay Dhotre inaugurated the Automatic Aquaponics System developed by @CDACIndia at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Punjab. This is a 100 % organic solution that will not only save water but also increase farm production.

 Sanjay held a press conference on the topic of new agriculture law of the central government at Akola Circuit House and answered the questions of the journalists. Tried to remove some misunderstanding regarding the law.
