S.Pedda Yerikal Reddy

S.Pedda Yerikal Reddy is a Member of Parliament(MP) of Lok Sabha from Nandyal Constituency, Andhra Pradesh. He was born on 4-June-1950 to Sannapa Reddy in Ankalammagudur village from Kadapa district. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Warangal in 1973. He was an Industrialist who headed the Nandi Group of Industries and Agriculturist, Engineer, turned Politician.

He was a Scientific Officer, B.A.R.C, in Mumbai from 1974-1977. He joined the Mumbai-based Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, India’s premium nuclear facility. He quit the position of a Scientific Officer in 1977 and set up a plastic containers manufacturing plant in 1979. Thereafter, he diversified his company’s operations into PVC pipes manufacturing in 1984 under the name of Nandi Pipes.

He started his political journey with the Bharathiya Janata Party(BJP). He joined the Indian National Congress(INC) Party(2000-2014). From 2000-2003, he was appointed as Chairman of the Municipal Corporation of Nandyal.

In 2004, He was elected as Member of Parliament(MP) to the 14th Lok Sabha from Nandyal Constituency. He was the Member of the Standing Committee on Commerce and worked as a Member of the Joint Committee on Salaries and Allowances of Members of Parliament. In 2009, He was Re-Elected to the 15th Lok Sabha(2nd term) by defeating Nasyam Mohammed Farook of the TDP Party by 90,847 votes. He was a Member of the Standing Committee on Water Resources and a Member of the Rules Committee.

He joined the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party(YSRCP). In 2014, He was Re-Elected as Member of Parliament(MP) to 16th Lok Sabha(3rd term). He served as the Member of the Standing Committee on Water Resources and Member of the Consultative Committee. He joined the Telugu Desam Party(TDP) and was appointed to the Ministry of Finance and Corporate Affairs. In 2019, He joined the Janasena Party. He died on 30-April-2019 aged 69 due to multi-organ failure.
