Ramu Surya Rao

Ramu Surya Rao is a Member of the Legislative Council(MLC) from East Godavari, West Godavari Teachers constituencies in Andhra Pradesh.

He was born on 15-05-1949 to Ramu Peraiah and Rathalu at Ponguturu Village of Koyyalaguem Mandal, a tribal area in West Godavari District.

In 1971, He completed Post Graduate M.A. From Andhra University, Waltair. He was Lecturer in Politics in Sir C.R.Reddy College, Eluru in 1973, After working for many years as Lecturer and Head of the Department of Politics, by virtue of his seniority.

He has been elevated to the premier post of Principal, Sir C.R.Reddy College, Eluru, his alma mater in 2005. He married Vijaya Lakshmi and He had two sons. Basically, he hails from an Agriculture family.

From 1968-1969, He was the Vice- President of the Arts Association [History, Economics, and Political Science Association]. He was an Executive Member of the college Union of the college during 1975-1977.

He started his Political Journey with the Progressive Democratic Front(PDF). In 2011, He was a Member of the Legislative Council(MLC) of Andhra Pradesh.

In 2017, He was independently elected as a Member of the Legislative Council(MLC) from East Godavari, West Godavari Teachers constituencies in Andhra Pradesh.

He has recently founded an RPR charitable trust named after his parents, He is planning to purchase a site of two acres in extent in the vicinity of Eluru and construct a residential complex to provide accommodation to about a hundred poor and deserving students in the initial stages and develop it further and further and further in course of time.
