Vishnuvardhan Reddy’s Ideal Couple:
“In the 1980s, Narayana Reddy was an active member of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) under the guidance of G. Pulla Reddy. However, his association with VHP came to an end after the controversial Babri Masjid demolition in Ayodhya, as he was a government employee and VHP was subsequently banned. Despite this setback, Narayana Reddy remained committed and courageous in all his endeavors. His opinions were highly regarded by several Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), and he had a significant influence on five or six of them.
While diligently fulfilling his job responsibilities, Narayana Reddy also prioritized the education of his sons, ensuring they pursued higher studies. He actively promoted the establishment of industries that contributed to job creation in the region. A man of discipline, he never lost touch with the struggles of farmers and organized numerous programs to support them. Vishnuvardhan Reddy played a crucial role in the victory of Prathapareddy, the Congress MLA candidate, by leveraging his progressive approach in work, politics, and agriculture.
Recognizing his invaluable contributions to the party’s success, Congress leaders appointed Vishnuvardhan Reddy as the Chairman of the market yard in the Shad Nagar Constituency. However, he chose to resign from this position, citing the importance of fairness and diversity within the leadership. He believed it was unreasonable for individuals from the same social group to monopolize key positions, especially when there was already an MLA representing the Reddy community. Consequently, he limited his involvement to the post of YS Chairman.
Vishnuvardhan Reddy’s parents, Pothireddy Narayana Reddy and Lakshmi Kanthamma played an instrumental role in nurturing the next generation with the support of Prathapareddy. Additionally, Vishnu’s mother, Smt. Lakshmi Kanthamma had a familial connection to Bhawandi Brahmananda Reddy, who served as the first legislator for the Nagarkarnool Assembly Constituency in 1952. He was a well-educated individual, having completed his MA from Benares University. In the 1952 elections, he ran as an independent candidate, conducting an extensive campaign throughout the constituency, and emerged victorious as the MLA, defeating candidates from both the Congress Party and the Socialist Party. Bhawandi Brahmananda Reddy was a contemporary of prominent political figures like Kasu Brahmananda Reddy and Jalagam Vengala Rao, all of whom shared their academic journey. The legacy of Brahmananda Reddy and Vishnuvardhan Reddy continues to leave an indelible mark on the political landscape.”
