N.M.D. Farooq is the Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council and was the Member of the Legislative Council(MLC) from Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh. He was born on 15-05-1950 to Ibrahim Saheb and N. Zaithun Bee in Nandyal Mandal of Kurnool dist AP. He completed his Graduation B.A. and N.M.D. Farooq married N. Shahinaz Begum.
He started his Political Journey with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He is a senior Muslim TDP politician and loyalist to the party since the formation of TDP. From 1984-1985, he served as Chairman of Nandyal Municipality. From 1985-1989, he was a member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly(MLA). From 1985-1989, he was appointed as Minister for Sugar, Wakf, and Urdu Academy.
From 1994-1999, he was a member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly(MLA). From 1995-1999, he was served as Deputy Speaker of the A.P Legislative Assembly. From 1999-2003, he won the post of a Member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly(MLA).
In 2017, He was elected as a Member of the Legislative Council(MLC) from Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh. In 2017, He was the Chairman of the Legislative Council of Andhra Pradesh. In 2018, He was served as Minister For Minorities Welfare and Health, Medical and Family Welfare.
