I am Mr. Mekala Rama Krishnudu, a dedicated leader committed to the advancement and prosperity of Medchal-Malkajgiri. My journey in public service began with a deep-rooted passion for addressing local issues and fostering community development. Over the years, I have served in various capacities, from student politics to significant administrative roles, including Vice-Sarpanch. My focus has consistently been on effective governance and the enhancement of local infrastructure, education, and social welfare. Through these roles, I have been able to contribute meaningfully to our community, working on projects that address our most pressing needs and improve the quality of life for our residents.

My commitment extends beyond traditional administrative duties. I have actively participated in major movements and played a crucial role during emergencies, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. During the pandemic, I spearheaded initiatives to distribute masks, sanitizers, and essential food items, ensuring that our community remained safe and well-supported. As a member of the Indian National Congress (INC), I continue to strive for progress and positive change, aiming to build a brighter and more equitable future for Medchal-Malkajgiri. My leadership is driven by a profound dedication to public service and a relentless desire to uplift our community, ensuring that we all thrive together.

Early Life and Foundational Education

Mr. Mekala Rama Krishnudu was born on June 16, 1983, in the quaint village of Yellampet. Growing up in a serene and closely-knit community, he developed strong values and a deep sense of belonging. His journey began at Zilla Parishad High School (ZPHS) in Medchal, where he completed his Secondary School Certificate (SSC) in 1998. This foundational education laid the groundwork for his future academic pursuits, providing him with essential knowledge and a solid educational base.

Pursuing Higher Education at Government College, Medchal

Following his SSC, Mr Rama Krishnudu continued his academic journey at Government College in Medchal. From 2000 to 2002, he diligently pursued his Intermediate studies, further expanding his academic horizons. This period was crucial in shaping his intellectual capabilities and exposing him to a broader spectrum of subjects and ideas. His time at Government College was marked by a commitment to excellence and a determination to achieve his goals.

Achieving Academic Excellence at S.P College, Secunderabad

In 2005, Mr.Rama Krishnudu graduated from S.P College in Secunderabad, marking a significant milestone in his educational career. His graduation represented the culmination of years of hard work and equipped him with the knowledge and skills necessary for his professional journey. The rigorous academic environment at S.P. College played a pivotal role in honing his abilities and preparing him for future challenges. Mr.Rama Krishnudu’s educational experiences have shaped his perspectives and guided his path towards a successful career.

Early Political Engagements and Leadership

Involvement with ABVP During Intermediate Education

 

During his Intermediate studies at Government College in Medchal in 2000, Mr. Mekala Rama Krishnudu took his first step into the world of politics by joining the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). The ABVP, a prominent student organization, provided Mr. Krishnudu with a platform to engage in student-led movements and initiatives. His active participation in ABVP allowed him to immerse himself in grassroots activism and understand the dynamics of student politics.

This early involvement was pivotal in shaping Mr. Krishnudu’s political outlook and aspirations. Through his engagement with ABVP, he developed crucial leadership skills and a deep-seated commitment to public service. His experiences during this period were instrumental in honing his abilities to organize, mobilize, and advocate for student and community issues. The foundation laid during his time with ABVP became a cornerstone for his future political endeavors, setting the stage for a distinguished career dedicated to addressing societal challenges and contributing to the welfare of his community.

Rise in Student Politics with NSUI

 

Mr. Mekala Rama Krishnudu’s political journey progressed significantly during his time at S.P. College in Secunderabad, where he joined the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI). His dedication and emerging leadership qualities were quickly recognized by his peers and the organization, leading to his appointment as the NSUI Vice President from 2004 to 2005.

In his role as Vice President, Mr. Krishnudu was a staunch advocate for student rights, working diligently to address issues affecting the student community. He played a crucial role in fostering a culture of activism and engagement among his peers, championing causes that improved student welfare and representation. His tenure at the NSUI not only demonstrated his capability to lead and influence but also deepened his understanding of grassroots politics and the challenges faced by students.

Early Political Involvement: Elected as Ward Member

In 2006, Mr. Mekala Rama Krishnudu began his political career with a notable achievement: being elected as a Ward Member of the Yellampet Gram Panchayath. Running as an independent candidate, his election was a testament to his dedication to public service and strong connection with the local community. As a Ward Member, Mr Rama Krishnudu was responsible for addressing the needs and concerns of his constituents, working tirelessly to improve the infrastructure and services within his ward. His ability to understand and respond to the issues faced by the residents helped him gain a reputation as a committed and effective local leader.

Advancement in Local Leadership: Vice-Sarpanch of Yellampet

By 2009, Mr. Rama Krishnudu’s dedication and effective leadership led to his election as the Vice-Sarpanch of Yellampet, representing the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). In this elevated role, he took on greater responsibilities, overseeing various development projects and local policies to improve the residents’ quality of life. As Vice-Sarpanch, Mr. Rama Krishnudu worked closely with the Sarpanch and other local officials to ensure the smooth implementation of initiatives and to address the community’s pressing issues. His tenure as Vice-Sarpanch was marked by significant progress in infrastructure development, public welfare programs, and enhanced civic amenities, solidifying his position as a key leader in Yellampet.

Joining the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS)

In 2019, recognizing the alignment of his vision for regional development with the goals of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Mr. Mekala Rama Krishnudu officially joined the party. His decision to join the BRS was driven by his desire to leverage the party’s platform to further his community’s interests and contribute to larger state-level development initiatives. This move marked a significant step in his political journey, providing him with a broader platform to advocate for the needs of his constituents and to participate in shaping state policies.

Transition to the Indian National Congress (INC)

As the political landscape evolved, Mr Rama Krishnudu strategically joined the Indian National Congress (INC) in 2023, shortly before the elections. His move to the INC was motivated by the opportunity to expand his influence and to work within a broader political framework that could benefit his constituents. As a senior leader within the INC, Mr. Rama Krishnudu brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to public service, positioning him to play a pivotal role in shaping policies and driving development efforts to improve the lives of the people he represents.

From Fields to Prosperity: The Journey of Leadership

Championing Farmers’ Rights: District Farmer President

From 2007 to 2011, Mr Mekala Rama Krishnudu served as the District Farmer President of the Ward Members Association in Ranga Reddy under the BRS. In this role, he dedicated himself to advocating for the rights and needs of farmers. His leadership was instrumental in bridging the gap between farmers and government authorities, ensuring that agricultural policies were shaped to benefit the farming community. Through his efforts, he worked tirelessly to address farmers’ concerns and improve agricultural practices within the district, enhancing the livelihood of many.

Promoting Economic Growth: District President of Telangana Private Udyogula Sangam

 

In 2014, Mr. Rama Krishnudu became District President of the Telangana Private Udyogula Sangam for the Medchal-Malkajgiri district, again under the BRS. His focus in this position was on supporting private businesses and fostering economic growth. He worked diligently to create a favourable environment for entrepreneurs and small businesses, promoting investment and development in the district. His leadership helped drive economic progress, contributing to a thriving business community and increasing opportunities for residents.

Family Dedication to Public Service: Elected as Sarpanch

In 2019, Mr Mekala Rama Krishnudu was elected as the Sarpanch of Yellampet. This role marked a significant milestone in his political career, allowing him to oversee and drive various development initiatives within the village. His leadership as Sarpanch was characterized by a commitment to enhancing local infrastructure, improving community services, and addressing the needs of residents.

In a notable example of family involvement in public service, his wife, Vennela Rama Krishnudu, was also elected as an independent candidate to the Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) in the same year. Their joint entry into local governance highlighted their shared dedication to the community and underscored their collaborative approach to addressing local issues. The participation of both Mr. and Mrs. Rama Krishnudu in politics reflected their deep commitment to public service and their ambition to bring positive change to their constituents.

Development Initiatives by Mr. Mekala Vennela Rama Krishnudu

Construction of CC Roads, Drainage Systems, and Vaikunta Dhamam:

Leveraging funds from the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) and Gram Panchayat resources, Mr and Mrs Mekala Vennala Rama Krishnudu initiated and oversaw the construction of concrete cement (CC) roads and efficient drainage systems in Yellampet Village. Additionally, he facilitated the creation of a Vaikunta Dhamam, providing a dedicated and respectful space for funeral rites.

Nursery Establishment in Yellampet Village:

Mr and Mrs. Vennala Rama Krishnudu organised the establishment of a nursery to promote environmental sustainability and beautification in Yellampet Village. This initiative aimed at enhancing green cover and providing saplings for local agricultural needs.

Laying of Three-Line Road to National Highway 49:

Recognising the importance of connectivity for economic and social development, Mr and Mrs. Vennala Rama Krishnudu played a pivotal role in constructing a three-line road linking Yellampet Village to National Highway 49. This development significantly improved the villagers’ accessibility and mobility.

Construction of Markatha Shiva Lingam:

In 2020, with the collective efforts and support of the villagers, Mr and Mrs. Vennala Rama Krishnudu spearheaded the construction of a Markatha Shiva Lingam, enhancing the spiritual and cultural heritage of Yellampet Village.

Revival of the Bodrai Festival:

After a 20-year hiatus, Mr and Mrs. Vennala Rama Krishnudu successfully revived and organised the Bodrai Festival in 2023. This significant cultural event was celebrated with the enthusiastic participation of the villagers, restoring a sense of community and cultural pride.

Construction of Urudamma Temple:

With the help and support of the local community, Mr and Mrs. Vennala Rama Krishnudu facilitated the construction of the Urudamma Temple. This project aimed to provide a spiritual sanctuary for the villagers and promote cultural continuity.

Construction of Pothalingamaiah and Soudama Temples:

Demonstrating his commitment to preserving and promoting cultural heritage, Mr and Mrs. Vennala Rama Krishnudu worked alongside the villagers to construct the Pothalingamaiah and Soudama temples. These religious structures have become central to the spiritual life of the community.

Establishment of a Primary School:

In partnership with P.H.I Seeds Private Limited, Mr and Mrs. Vennala Rama Krishnudu allocated the necessary funds and resources to construct a primary school in Yellampet Village. This initiative was driven by his commitment to improving educational opportunities and infrastructure for the village children.

Support for Marriages of Underprivileged Individuals:

Mr and Mrs. Vennala Rama  Krishnudu extended his support to underprivileged families by assisting in marriage organisation and financial aspects. He provided Pusthe Mattelu (traditional wedding items) to help celebrate these important life events with dignity and joy.  

Recognition and Awards

Mrs. Vennela Rama Krishnudu received the esteemed Best Sarpanch Award in recognition of her outstanding leadership and dedication during her tenure as Sarpanch of Yellampet Village. This prestigious accolade acknowledges her effective governance and significant contributions to community development. Her successful implementation of key projects, innovative solutions to local challenges, and proactive engagement with residents have greatly enhanced the quality of life in the village.

The award also highlights her husband’s crucial support, Mr. Vennela Rama Krishnudu, and emphasizes the collaborative efforts that led to their shared success. Together, they have set a high standard in public service and community development, inspiring continued progress and commitment.

Active Participation in the Telangana Movement

Million March

Mr. Mekala Rama Krishnudu played a crucial role in the Million March, a significant event in the Telangana movement. His active participation in this large-scale protest demonstrated his unwavering commitment to the cause of Telangana statehood. By joining thousands of other protesters, he helped raise national and international awareness about the aspirations and demands of the people of Telangana.

Rallies

Throughout the Telangana movement, Mr Rama Krishnudu participated in numerous rallies. These rallies were pivotal in mobilising public support and drawing attention to the issues faced by the Telangana region. His involvement in these events highlighted his dedication to advocating for the rights and needs of his community, and his leadership helped galvanise others to join the cause.

Rasta Rokos

Mr.Rama Krishnudu actively participated in Rasta Rokos (road blockades), a nonviolent protest instrumental in the Telangana movement. By participating in these roadblockades, he contributed to the widespread disruption that aimed to bring the plight of the Telangana people to the forefront of political discourse. His commitment to this form of protest showcased his strategic approach to advocating for statehood.

Hunger Strikes

In addition to participating in marches, rallies, and road blockades, Mr. Rama  Krishnudu also engaged in hunger strikes. These hunger strikes were a powerful protest, demonstrating his sacrifice and deep dedication to the cause. By enduring these hunger strikes, he showed solidarity with fellow protesters and underscored the urgent need for Telangana’s statehood.    

Collective Community Resilience and Support During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Distribution of Masks:

Mr. Mekala Rama Krishnudu organised and led initiatives to distribute masks throughout Yellampet Village and surrounding areas. Recognising the critical importance of face coverings in controlling the spread of COVID-19, he ensured that masks were made available to all residents, including the elderly and vulnerable populations. This effort was crucial in enhancing public health and safeguarding the community from the virus.

Provision of Sanitizers:

In response to the pandemic’s heightened emphasis on hygiene, Mr Rama  Krishnudu coordinated the distribution of hand sanitisers to local households and public spaces. He facilitated the acquisition and distribution of sanitisers, ensuring they were accessible to everyone, including those who might not have been able to afford or obtain them otherwise. This initiative helped reinforce proper hand hygiene practices and contributed to the community’s overall health and safety.

Daily Essentials Distribution:

Understanding the financial strain and logistical challenges faced by many families during the lockdown, Mr Rama Krishnudu organised the distribution of essential food items, including vegetables and other staple goods. He set up distribution points and worked with local suppliers to ensure a steady supply of these essentials. His efforts provided much-needed relief to families, helping them navigate the pandemic’s difficulties while ensuring they had access to nutritious food.

Community Assistance and Support:

Mr. Rama Krishnudu actively engaged with community members to assess and address their needs during the crisis. He collaborated with local organisations, volunteers, and community leaders to maximise the reach and effectiveness of the support provided. By fostering a spirit of collaboration and mutual aid, he played a key role in uniting the community to face the challenges of the pandemic together.

Emergency Response Coordination:

In addition to his direct support efforts, Mr Rama Krishnudu coordinated with local authorities and health officials to stay informed about the evolving situation and respond effectively. He also disseminated critical information about health guidelines and safety measures, helping to keep the community informed and prepared.
