Komatireddy Venkat Reddy

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy is the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Nalgonda Assembly Constituency and Member of Parliament of Bhongir Constituency of Lok Sabha from 2019.

He was born on 23-may-1965 to Papi Reddy in Brahmana Vellemla village, Narketpally, Nalgonda district. He has completed his SSC standard from Amarajeevi Potti Sreeramulu High School, Malakpet, Hyderabad in 1980, and Intermediate from N.B. Science College, Pathargatti, Hyderabad in 1982 from Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology, Hyderabad, he has completed B.E in 1986.

He hails from an Agricultural family.  His father, Sri Komatireddy Papi Reddy was the village Munsif,  locally known as the village Patwari. He has a brother, Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy earlier served as Member of Parliament, Bhongir.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy started his Political journey with Congress Party. He won as MLA from Nalgonda Assembly constituency for four terms, in 1999, 2004, 2009, and 2014. He was a Minister for Information Technology in YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s government. He served as Minister for Ports.

 He resigned both his ministry and his assembly seat in support of the Telangana cause in 2010 and again in October 2011, although the Congress government refused to accept his resignation as an MLA.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy launched a hunger strike in the cause of a separate Telangana state on 01-November-2011 at Nalgonda. He was Deputy Floor Leader, Telangana Congress Legislative Party. 

From 2009-2010, Venkat Reddy worked as Minister for Youth, IT Services, and Sports, and from 2010-2011, he was the Minister for Infrastructure&Investment, Ports, Airports, Natural Gas. In 2019, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy elected as a  Member of the Parliament of Bhongir Constituency of Lok Sabha.
