The rally was addressed by ABVP national secretary Vinay Badre, who called for the investigation of political murders to be handed over to the CBI. He also sought a reinvestigation by the National Investigation Agency into the murders where extremist links were suspected.
Badre criticized the Communist ideology and alleged that the Communist movement had always been anti-national. He also alleged that anti-national elements had even crept into the college campuses, citing an incident where the national anthem and Indian nationalism were insulted in a college magazine.
The Chalo Kerala march was organized to regain the pride of Kerala, which is the land of Sankaracharya and the pride of the entire nation. Dharna for Justice:
On a tragic note, a young student named Mr. Paramesh, who was studying in the Intermediate Second Year at CBM College, took his own life, leaving behind a grieving family and friends. In response to this unfortunate incident, Suman, a leader of the ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad) in the state, organized a peaceful dharna (protest) to demand justice for Mr. Paramesh and to draw attention to the issue of mental health among students. The tragic case of Mr. Paresh’s suicide had shaken the community, and the police investigation did not yield any clear reason for his drastic step. Moreover, there were allegations of police brutality against one of Paresh’s family members during the investigation, which further fueled the agitation against the authorities. In this challenging time, the ABVP state leader Suman stepped forward to support Paresh’s family and lead the protests against the police’s handling of the case.
Suman’s unwavering commitment to justice and his determination to bring the truth to light inspired many students and community members to join the protest. They demanded a thorough investigation into the case and urged the police to be more sensitive to the family’s plight. Suman and his team also highlighted the lack of support and resources for students from rural areas, who often struggle to cope with the academic and social pressures of city life.
The protest led by Suman was not limited to just voicing the concerns of the family and the students but also aimed to create awareness among the public about the issue. The protest gained widespread support from students, academics, and activists, who echoed the demand for a fair investigation and better support systems for students.
