Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao (KTR)

Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) is currently serving as a Working President of Telangana Rashtra Samithi and the Minister of MA&UD, Industries, and IT&C in Telangana KCR’s Cabinet and  K.T.R. is a Member of Legislative Assembly of Sircilla Constituency,  Rajanna Sircilla district.

He was born on 24-07-1976 to Chandrashekhar Rao and Shobha Rao in Karimnagar Dist. He completed SSC Saint George Grammer School 1991, and Intermediate from Vignan Junior College at Vadlamudi, Guntur, in 1993.

He went on to graduate with a BSc in Microbiology, Chemistry, Botany from Nizam College of the Osmania University at Hyderabad in 1996, and MSC Pune University 1998, MBA University Of New York USA 2000.

His father, K. Chandrashekhar Rao, is the founder of Telangana Rashtra Samithi and the 1st Chief Minister of Telangana, and his mother, K. Shobha Rao, is a homemaker. His younger sister, K Kavitha is the MLC of Nizamabad,  President of Telangana Jagruthi, and a former Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha for the Nizamabad constituency, K.T.R. is married to K Shailima. The couple has two children.

In 2006, K. Chandrasekhar Rao resigned from the United Progressive Alliance-I. K. T. Rama Rao resigned from his job to join the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in 2006 and began campaigning for his father who contested for the Karimnagar Lok Sabha by-election in the same year. KCR won by a margin of over 2 lakh.

In 2009, He contested the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Elections (MLA)  (Resigned on 14.02.2010 and Re-elected on 30.07.2010) from the Sircilla Assembly constituency.

He won by a close margin of 171 votes, defeating independent candidate KK Mahender Reddy. When the Telangana Joint Action Committee organized a rail-road-transport blockade as part of the movement, he spent a night with the agitating protestors to push for a consensus on the formation of Telangana and asked for a timeframe for A finish implementation.

From 2014-2018, He was Served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of the Sircilla Assembly constituency from the TRS Party. From 2014-2016, He was appointed as Minister for Panchayat Raj & Information Technology, Government of Telangana.

KTR has been awarded Most Inspirational Icon on the Year 2015 by CNN-IBN and Ritz Magazine. He is multi-lingual, being fluent in Telugu, English, Hindi, and Urdu. In 2016, He worked as a Minister for Panchayat Raj, Information Technology, Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Government of Telangana.

From 2016-2018, He was served as Minister for Information Technology, Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Industries, Handlooms and Textiles, Mines and Geology, Public Enterprises, NRI Affairs, Government of Telangana.

In 2018, He was Served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of the Sircilla Assembly constituency from the TRS Party, Rajanna Sircilla Dist. He made a mark for himself by working hard and taking key decisions to promote IT.

The T Hub, launched by him is a shining example of the work done to promote the IT sector. Schemes like Mission Bhageeratha and Grama Jyothi were praised across the country for innovative ideas.

politically, his biggest achievement is the stupendous victory in the GHMC elections. Under KTR, the party won 99 seats on its own. He has also strategized during the assembly elections in 2018.

KTR personally campaigned in 55 assembly seats as part of the electioneering. The party had also won impressively in the panchayat elections and the Huzurabad by-polls. Organisationally, he had ensured that the party reaches the 60 lakh target in membership and that the booth and village level committees are formed. The next biggest task for him is to construct party offices in 22 district headquarters.

In 2018, Chief Minister KCR appointed KTR as the Working President of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi Party Ever since he became the president, he has been focusing on building the party organization and making it battle-ready.

In 2019, He was Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Industries, Information Technology and Communications, Government of Telangana.
