Jalagam Venkat Rao was the 2014-MLA of Kothagudem Constituency. He was born on 18-04-1967 to Vengal Rao in Khammam. He completed a Bachelor of Science(BS) in Computer Science in 1990 from the University of Maryland, USA. Basically, he hails from an Agricultural family. He has the Business. He has an elder brother, Jalagam Prasada Rao a former minister.
His father Jalagam Vengal Rao was the 5th Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Venkat Rao was a technocrat and was running a Software Company in Hyderabad.
He started his political journey with the Indian National Congress(INC) party. From 2004-2009, in Andhra Pradesh assembly elections, he was elected as Member of Legislative Assembly(MLA) with the highest majority of 9536 votes from Sathupalli Constituency.
He joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi(TRS) party. In 2014, the Telangana Assembly elections, he was elected as Member of Legislative Assembly(MLA) with a margin of 50,688 votes from the TRS party. He holds the position of Parliamentary Secretary.
