As a lifelong advocate for justice, empowerment, and community development, I, Ibram Shekar, am deeply honored to share my journey and vision with you. Born and raised in LB Nagar, Ranga Reddy District, Telangana, I was fortunate to inherit values of integrity and public service from my parents, Shri Ibram Lingaiah and Smt. Ibram Narsamma. My educational path, from Refah E Aam High School to Maturi Venkata Subba Rao Engineering College, instilled in me a passion for knowledge and a commitment to leveraging it for the betterment of society.
Since embarking on my political journey in 2001, I have remained steadfast in my dedication to addressing the needs of our communities. From serving as an independent Sarpanch to assuming roles in advocacy organizations like MRPS and leadership positions within the BSP, each step has reinforced my belief in grassroots empowerment and inclusive governance. My tenure as Deputy Mayor and subsequent roles have furthered my resolve to implement progressive policies and initiatives that uplift every citizen.
Appointment as Deputy Mayor
On January 27, 2020, Ibram Shekhar received his appointment letter from the Election Officer and took oath as the First Deputy Mayor of Badangpet Municipal Corporation. His inauguration as Deputy Mayor of Telangana state has inspired numerous young people, drawing parallels with revered leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Manyawar Kanshi Ram, and Mayawati. Ibram Shekhar’s ascent to this role exemplifies his dedication to public service and his potential to inspire future generations in the pursuit of social justice and equitable governance.
Through my involvement in movements such as the Telangana Movement, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of collective action and unwavering determination in achieving regional justice and autonomy. Today, as an elected advisor for the BSP in Maheshwaram Constituency, I am committed to advocating for policies that promote social equity, economic prosperity, and sustainable development.

Early Life and Family Background
Ibram Shekar, a prominent member of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and a key figure in the Maheshwaram Constituency, was born on June 30, 1971, in LB Nagar, Ranga Reddy District, Telangana State. He was greatly influenced by his parents, the late Shri Ibram Lingaiah and the late Smt. Ibram Narsamma, who played significant roles in shaping his values and dedication to public service.
Educational Journey
Ibram Shekar pursued his education with determination and commitment. He began his schooling at Refah E Aam High School in Shalibhadra, Hyderabad. He then enrolled in Pragati Junior College in Koti, Hyderabad, for his intermediate studies. Demonstrating his academic prowess, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) from Maturi Venkata Subba Rao Engineering College (MVSR) in Hyderabad.
Political Journey and Early Leadership
In 2001, Ibram Shekar’s political journey began with a significant milestone when he was elected as the Sarpanch as an independent candidate. His election marked the beginning of his impactful career in public service. Inspired by the challenges and opportunities within his community, Shekar decided to step into politics independently, driven by a desire to bring about meaningful change.
Impactful Tenure and Community Trust
His tenure as Sarpanch was characterized by a commitment to addressing local issues and improving the lives of his constituents. Shekar’s leadership style, grounded in accessibility and responsiveness, quickly earned him the respect and trust of the community. His success as an independent leader demonstrated his capability to lead effectively without the backing of major political parties.
Sarpanch Forum Saroornagar Mandal President-2004
In 2002, Ibram Shekar’s leadership journey progressed as he was elected as President of the Saroornagar Mandal Sarpanch Forum. This position allowed him to expand his influence and advocate more effectively for the needs and development of the Saroornagar Mandal, reinforcing his commitment to community service and governance.
Leadership in SC/ST Advocacy -2004
In 2004, Ibram Shekar was elected as the State President of the SC/ST Sarpanchula Sangham. This prestigious role enabled him to advocate more effectively for the rights and welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, further solidifying his reputation as a dedicated and influential leader committed to social justice and community development.
Contested as Sarpanch from Balapur-2006
In 2006, Ibram Shekar once again demonstrated his independent spirit by contesting the Sarpanch position in Balapur without party affiliation. His decision to run as an independent candidate underscored his commitment to addressing the specific needs of his community and his belief in grassroots leadership.
MRPS State Vice President-2006
In 2006, Ibram Shekar’s dedication to social causes was further recognized when he was elected as the State Vice President of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS). This role allowed him to advocate for the rights and reservations of the Madiga community, highlighting his ongoing commitment to social justice and equitable representation.
Independent Bid for MPTC-2006
In 2006, Ibram Shekar ran independently for the Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) position in Balapur. Despite his strong campaign and dedication to community issues, he unfortunately did not win the election. This setback, however, only strengthened his resolve to continue his advocacy and service.
Contested MLA -2009
In 2009, Ibram Shekar contested for the MLA seat from the Maheshwaram Constituency representing the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS). Despite a vigorous campaign, he narrowly lost the election by a small margin of votes. This close contest underscored his significant support base and commitment to representing his community at a higher level.

In 2011, Ibram Shekar joined the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), inspired by its commitment to public service and under the guidance of senior members. He dedicated himself to understanding and fulfilling the political needs of the people, striving to deliver targeted services that benefited the community.
Role as BSP State Secretary -2011
In 2011, Ibram Shekar assumed the role of State Secretary for the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Telangana. His election marked a significant step in his political career, empowering him to actively shape and advance the party’s agenda and initiatives across the state.
State General Secretary -2014
In 2014, Ibram Shekar was appointed as the State General Secretary from the BSP Party, and he continues to hold this position. His appointment demonstrates the trust and confidence placed in him by the party leadership to oversee and manage party affairs within the district..
Victory in 2014 General Elections
In the June 2014 General Elections, Ibram Shekar contested for the position of Councillor from Balapur. His dedication and strong community support led to a decisive victory, earning him the honorable position with a significant majority of votes.
Independent Leadership in 2020
In January 2020, Ibram Shekar was elected as a Corporator from Balapur, running independently. His election highlighted his continued commitment to local governance and community representation, securing the position through his grassroots support and dedication to addressing local issues.
Ran for MLA in 2018
In 2018, Ibram Shekar Contested for the honorable post of MLA from Maheshwaram Independently; however, the seat was vacated, and the exact position was granted to the opponent from the ruling party owing to a little discrepancy in the vote percentage.
Leadership as BSP Deputy Mayor-2020 January
Appointed as Deputy Mayor of Badangpet Municipality in January 2020 representing the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Ibram Shekar assumes a pivotal role in overseeing party initiatives and policy implementation within the district. Supported by BRS, he will collaborate closely with grassroots leaders and party members to bolster organizational strength and engage with constituents effectively.
Election as BSP Advisor -2022
In 2022, Ibram Shekar was elected as the BSP Advisor representing Maheshwaram Constituency in Telangana State. This position signifies his role in providing strategic counsel and guidance to the party’s initiatives and policies within the constituency. His election reflects his continued commitment to advancing the BSP’s agenda and serving the interests of the local community through thoughtful leadership and advocacy.
Spearheading the Telangana Movement: Ibram Shekar’s Role in Advocating for Statehood-
Ibram Shekar, a passionate advocate for the rights and welfare of his community, took an active role in the Telangana Movement from 2001-14. His participation was fueled by a deep-seated commitment to the cause of regional justice and development. Recognizing the importance of solidarity and active engagement, Ibram Shekar, along with fellow members from MRPS, courageously confronted the obstacles put forth by authorities. When they were stopped by a corner fence, they crossed it and ignited the movement, demonstrating their unwavering determination.
During the movement, Ibram Shekar’s contributions extended beyond mere participation in protests. He involved in Significant protests like Dharna and Rasta Roko and events such as a cooking war, million march.
Involvement in Social & Party Activities –
- Community Support and Education Advocacy –In 2001, Ibram Shekar actively contributed to the education system in Balapur by distributing study materials and notebooks to students in need, while also providing assistance to the underprivileged during difficult times.
- He made regular visits to government schools and classrooms across Balapur Mandal, working to enhance educational facilities and support the development of local schools. His efforts underscored his dedication to improving educational opportunities and fostering community welfare through proactive engagement and support.
- Expanding his philanthropic endeavors, Ibram Shekar extended support to impoverished individuals and orphans severely impacted by family tragedies, offering a designated amount for the welfare of bereaved families.
