Jhansi Reddy was born on November 18, 1965, in the quaint village of Choppakatlapalem, nestled within Khammam District, Telangana, India, Jhansi Reddy entered the world amidst a backdrop of cultural richness and familial values. She was the cherished daughter of Shri. Late Seelam Ram Mohan Reddy and Smt. Saraswathi Reddy, whose nurturing and encouragement laid the initial groundwork for her indomitable spirit.
However, life took a poignant turn with the untimely passing of her father during her early childhood. At the tender age of 11, Jhansi, alongside her devoted mother, embarked on a transformative journey to the United States in 1977, seeking both solace and opportunity in a foreign land. In 1982, Jhansi Reddy married Dr. Hanumandla Rajender Reddy, an accomplished young physician from India, forming a partnership rooted in mutual respect and shared aspirations. The inception of Raj Properties began with the acquisition of a modest 32-unit apartment building in Berkeley, California. Under Jhansi Reddy’s astute leadership and unwavering determination, the company flourished exponentially. Through strategic investments, innovative management practices, and a relentless pursuit of excellence, Raj Properties has transformed into a formidable enterprise encompassing over 1,200 commercial and residential units across the state of California.

In 2019, Jhansi Reddy further expanded her vision for societal impact by founding the Women Empowerment Telugu Association (WETA). As the Founder and Advisory Board Chair, she has championed initiatives that uplift and empower women and young girls. WETA was established with the mission of fostering gender equality, creating opportunities for personal and professional growth, and addressing critical issues faced by women and girls in underserved communities.
Principle of WETA-
The core principle of WETA is to empower women globally. Over the years, girls and women have been directed to what they should do and how they should live their lives. Through WETA we would like to change that by creating opportunities for young girls and women and thereby achieve their dreams without the fear of any barriers. Be it an infant, a young girl, a teenager, or a woman.

Through the Women Empowerment Telugu Association (WETA) and its dynamic team, Jhansi Reddy continues to uplift and empower hundreds of women and young girls in both the United States and the Telugu states of India. Dedicated to the well-being of physically and mentally challenged children, WETA conducts welfare initiatives in multiple regions, including Miryalguda (Telangana), Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), and Renigunta (Andhra Pradesh). During the pandemic, the WETA team extended their support by delivering a month’s supply of groceries to the Abhaya Kshethram Orphanage in Renigunta, Tirupati. In May 2023, Jhansi Reddy made a momentous political debut by joining the Indian National Congress (INC), swiftly garnering widespread recognition and acclaim across Telangana and on a national scale. Her audacious decision to contest against a formidable seven-time undefeated incumbent and sitting minister captured the imagination of many, symbolizing her indomitable spirit and fearless resolve.
However, due to unforeseen bureaucratic complexities, Jhansi strategically fielded her daughter-in-law, Smt. Yashaswini Reddy, as the candidate for the Palakurthy Constituency. This decisive move led to a resounding victory, with Smt. Yashaswini Reddy secured the seat by an overwhelming majority of 47,000 votes. This triumph not only underscored Jhansi Reddy’s political acumen but also her ability to navigate challenging circumstances with grace and precision.
