My Journey in Politics and Public Service

From an early age, I was inspired by my father, G. Rama Rao, a former Minister for Tribal Welfare and legislator of the Boath constituency. Joining the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), I started my political career with a deep sense of duty towards my community. I served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Boath from 1994 to 1999 and again from 1999 to 2004, during which I also held the position of Minister for Scheduled Tribes Welfare and Welfare of the Handicapped. My tenure focused on improving infrastructure, education, and healthcare for marginalized communities, earning the trust and respect of my constituents.

In 2014, I transitioned to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) to contribute to the newly formed state of Telangana. I was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Adilabad from 2014 to 2018. My focus was on addressing the pressing needs of my constituents, such as better infrastructure, healthcare, and education, while also working to create more employment opportunities. Throughout my political career, I have remained committed to serving my community and advocating for their development at both state and national levels.

Early Life and Educational Journey

Mr Godam Nagesh was born on October 21, 1964, to Godam Ramarao and Godam Bhimbai in the tranquil village of Jatharla in the Adilabad district. Growing up in this serene environment, he developed firm roots and values that have significantly shaped his dedication to public service. Demonstrating a passion for learning from a young age, Mr Nagesh pursued his academic goals with vigour and determination.

In 1993, Mr. Nagesh achieved a significant milestone by completing his Postgraduate studies and earning a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree. Mr. Godam Nagesh embarked on his political journey with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), deeply influenced by his father, G. Rama Rao. His father, a former Minister for Tribal Welfare and the incumbent legislator of the Boath constituency at the time, instilled in Mr Nagesh a profound understanding of political responsibility and public service. Growing up in a politically active family environment, Mr Nagesh developed a keen sense of duty towards his community and an aspiration to bring about positive change through political engagement.

Legislative Service and Ministerial Roles

First Term as Member of the Legislative Assembly (1994-1999) From 1994 to 1999, Mr Nagesh served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the Boath constituency under the TDP banner. His tenure was characterized by a strong commitment to the development of his constituency. He focused on addressing local issues, improving infrastructure, and ensuring that the voices of his constituents were heard at the state level. Minister for Scheduled Tribes Welfare and Welfare of the Handicapped During his first term as an MLA, Mr. Nagesh was appointed as the Minister for Scheduled Tribes Welfare and Welfare of the Handicapped in the TDP-led state government of Andhra Pradesh. Chairman of Girijan Cooperative Corporation (2000-2002) Between 2000 and 2002, Mr. Nagesh took on the additional responsibility of serving as the Chairman of the Girijan Cooperative Corporation. This government body was dedicated to the welfare and economic empowerment of tribal communities in Andhra Pradesh. Under his leadership, the corporation implemented various programs aimed at boosting the livelihoods of tribal populations, promoting their traditional crafts, and ensuring fair trade practices. Mr. Nagesh’s leadership in this role further demonstrated his commitment to uplifting underprivileged sections of society and promoting inclusive growth.

Political Challenges and Resilience

Contested 2004 Elections In the 2004 elections, Mr. Nagesh contested for the MLA position but faced a setback and did not secure the seat. Despite this loss, he remained undeterred and continued his efforts to serve his community. He used this period to reconnect with his constituents, understand their evolving needs, and plan future initiatives to address their concerns. Third Term as Member of the Legislative Assembly (2009-2014) Demonstrating resilience and unwavering dedication, Mr. Nagesh was re-elected as an MLA for the Boath constituency from 2009 to 2014. His return to the legislative assembly highlighted his enduring popularity and the continued trust placed in him by his constituents. During his third term, he focused on advancing developmental projects, improving infrastructure, and ensuring that the benefits of government schemes reached the grassroots level. His proactive approach and effective governance played a crucial role in the socio-economic development of his constituency.

Transition to National Politics

Joining Telangana Rashtra Samithi (2014) In 2014, Mr. Nagesh made a significant political shift by joining the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Party. This move was driven by his alignment with the party’s vision for the newly formed state of Telangana and his commitment to contributing to its development. Joining TRS marked a new chapter in his political career, allowing him to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Telangana.

Member of Parliament (2014-2018) From 2014 to 2018, Mr. Nagesh served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Adilabad constituency. He was elected to the 16th Lok Sabha, successfully defeating Naresh of the Indian National Congress (INC). As an MP, Mr. Nagesh focused on addressing the pressing issues faced by his constituents at the national level. He advocated for better infrastructure, improved healthcare, and educational facilities, and worked towards creating more employment opportunities.
