Gangada Govind is the Poorna Market Union Secretary and Social Activist from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. He was born on 10th May 1980, in Visakhapatnam. His father was Apparao, the mother was Chinnammalu.

Education Background:

In 1997, Govind has completed his schooling at St. Antony’s high school, located in Visakhapatnam. He attained Open Degree(B.Com) from Arts University.

Career as a Social Activist:

Poorna Market is famous in Visakhapatnam. With the Poorna Market, Govind’s life took a new direction. His involvement with the market has helped him to get more acquainted with the general public.

Govind was active in solving issues such as issuing market trade licenses, electricity billing, and informing the public about the problems caused by the non-issuance of licenses to the public. He looks after the people who have any problems in the market.

Due to his active involvement, Govind was elected as the Union Secretary of Purna Market by the people because of his quick response to any crisis and his concern for the welfare of the people.   • All the roads in Purna Market are lined with illegal lanes. The sidewalk towards the main road is the last. The courtyard is also inaccessible to pedestrians. It is noteworthy that the market is occupied by businesses on the road with baskets in the parking lot. Market Union Secretary Govind urged the authorities to take immediate action as two-wheeler motorists are facing difficulties in finding a place for parking and many similar problems are being faced by the people in the entire market.
  • GVMC Zone-4 Commissioner Ramana said businesses should not be conducted on the main road at Poorna Market. He toured the entire market and spoke to shopkeepers on the road outside the market. He said traders inside the market were getting embarrassed and traffic problems were arising as businesses were occupying the road outside the market. He said big traders are losing out because of this. He said that according to GVMC regulations, businesses are not allowed outside the market.
  • The massive increase in monthly tax collections on Purna Market traders has become controversial. The traders alleged that the GVMC zonal staff were committing atrocities by increasing the monthly taxes from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 per shop. Traders urge GVMC superiors to immediately stop extorting taxes from GVMC zonal officials.

Govind’s Service for the Sunkarapalem Residents:

  • Govind also served as a Social Activist. He offered his services to the residents of Visakhapatnam irrespective of time.
  • Every year on the occasion of Vinayaka Chavithi, Govind donates food to 5000 underprivileged people under the auspices of the MLA.
  • He protests and holds dharnas against the decisions taken by the government against the people and seeks justice for the people.
  • He engaged in programs like Palle Pragati, Harithaharam, and Swachh Bharath programs and keeps his surroundings clean.
  • He organized the blood camp and medical camp in the village and donated blood to needy people. Govind financially assisted the poor people in the village and also helped them in all possible ways.
  • He distributed fruits and medicines to the unhealthy students and needy people in the village. He fought and solved the issues like pensions, Ration cards, Health cards, and also the issues relating to Aadhar cards.
  • Distributed Books, Pads, and Stationery things to the Students and motivates them to score high marks.
  • He conducted Village development activities in the village like laying CC Roads, Digging Borewells, Putting up Street Lights, Clearance Drainage systems, and Solving water Problems.
  • Distributed food and clothing to the Orphan Children and helped them by donating a certain amount whenever required.
  • He stood up for the poor and ensured the development of welfare. He always raises his hands to serve the poor.

Govind’s effort during the Covid Crisis

  • Pandemic hit the people’s lives very badly. Ordinary people could not survive during the Covid crisis
  • As a responsible leader, Govind gave his contribution even during the covid time.
  • During the Pandemic Period, he distributed fruits, food packets, and water bottles to the road siders and also distributed blankets to them.
  • He provided food and rice bags to the migrants and also contributed to them financially.
  • Provided annadhanam program to the Police, Municipal, and front-line workers who served a lot during the corona crisis.
  • Conducted awareness programs on the maintenance of Physical distance and following precautionary measures to prevent the epidemic in Corona.
  • He financially helped covid victims by providing vitamin tablets, masks, Sanitizers, and fruits.
  • Govind put his effort to serve people even during the covid second wave.
  • He distributed vegetables and fruits to the village people and needy people.
  • Awareness camps and seminars were organized on the Covid-19 vaccine and the effects of the virus.
  • The area infected with the coronavirus has been declared a red zone and people have been given proper precautions and instructions.
  • Delivered food, and supplements for the covid victims by home delivery.
