Munemma, a 45-year-old woman from the large Dalit district of Karveti Nagar, had been suffering from an enormous K. barian cyst (uterine tumor) weighing up to 70 kg for the past 20 years. This massive tumor severely impeded her ability to walk and manage daily activities. Despite the critical nature of her condition, local doctors were reluctant to proceed with surgery.

When her plight was brought to public attention through the news, Primary Medical Officer Dr. Ravi Raju took immediate action. He assessed Munemma’s condition, engaged with higher authorities, and arranged for her transfer to Tirupati Hospital for advanced treatment. However, due to the cyst’s considerable size, surgical intervention was deemed too risky, and no treatment was performed there.

Undeterred, Dr. Ravi Raju brought Munemma back to Karveti Nagar, where he employed a non-surgical approach to address her condition. Over the course of two months, he successfully used syringes to extract 70 kg of tumor fluid, providing her with significant relief. Dr. Ravi Raju’s is the 1st Person to introduced insulin to the Primary Health Center in Karveti Nagar, where it had been only available only in large hospitals. By offering free insulin, diagnostic tests, and medications, he enhanced access to crucial diabetes care and established a new benchmark for small-scale healthcare facilities. Pioneering Pandemic Response and Leadership in Chittoor District- (2019-2022)

After serving at the Chittoor Health Care Center in 2019, Dr. Ravi Raju transitioned to the Primary Health Center in Narayanavanam. During his tenure there in 2020, as COVID-19 cases surged across India, Dr. Raju emerged as a trailblazer in pandemic awareness efforts. He was the first person to educate and publicize government doctors, private practitioners, and the general public about COVID-19. His proactive approach and unwavering commitment to public health were instrumental in the early dissemination of vital information about the virus, establishing him as a key figure in India’s initial response to the pandemic.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Ravi Raju played a crucial role in coordinating the response in Tirupati of Chittoor district. He engaged in detailed discussions with political leaders, legislators, and a five-member team from the medical association in Tirupati to devise daily preventive measures for those presenting with COVID-19 symptoms and strategies to curb its spread. As a result of these discussions, five COVID-19 centers were established in Karvetinagar. Dr. Ravi Raju oversaw the logistics of transporting oxygen cylinders and COVID-19 kits to these centers. His exemplary leadership and organizational skills led to his appointment as the in-charge of all COVID-19 centers in Chittoor district by the medical departments, marking him as a pivotal figure in the district’s pandemic response efforts.

In 2022, Dr. Ravi Raju was promoted and appointed as the Deputy District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO), where he continued his dedicated service. During the second wave of the pandemic, in recognition of his exceptional contributions, he was appointed as the COVID Mandal Officer for the entire Chittoor district by the Collector. Under his leadership, 30 COVID-19 centers were established across the district, equipped with necessary manpower, food supplies, blood testing facilities, and essential items.

Foreign entities reached out to Dr. Ravi Raju, expressing their support for India’s battle against COVID-19. During his tenure, as People faced with significant hesitation and misinformation surrounding the COVID-19 vaccine, Dr. Ravi Raju led by example as the first individual to receive the vaccine before it was publicly endorsed by major figures. He took proactive measures to address vaccine apprehensions, spearheading comprehensive awareness campaigns to shift public perception and encourage widespread acceptance.

Dr. Ravi Raju’s proactive efforts included personally overseeing the vaccination drive throughout the Chittoor district. He ensured that politicians, ministers and other influential individuals received their doses, thereby setting an example for the general populace.
