D. Srinivas

Dharmapuri Srinivas is the Member of Parliament(MP) of the Rajya Sabha in Telangana. He was born on 27-09-1948 to Venkatram in Velpoor Village of Nizamabad District. He completed B.Com From Nizam College in 1970 and LLB from Osmania University. He worked as an Advocate.

He started his Political Journey with the Indian National Congress Party(INC). He was the President of NSUI and was the General Secretary of the District Congress Committee. He was elected MLA three times in the years 1989,1999, and 2004 of Nizamabad District from Congress Party. He was served as Minister for Higher Education and Intermediate Education in Rajashekhar Reddy’s government in 2009. He was the President of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Party PCC.

Srinivas also worked with different portfolios in the State Cabinet of Andhra Pradesh. He played a key role to bring back the Congress Party into the government in 2004 and 2009. Srinivas lost the MLA post in 2009 and 2012 to BJP. In 2014, He contested as MLA but he lost the post of MLA. Later on, he joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi Party(TRS). In 2016, He is the Member of Parliament(MP), Rajya Sabha for Telangana.
