I am Smt. Bhagya Lakshmi Malkedikar, a dedicated advocate for social equality and public service, was born on March 10, 1976, in Karmanghat, Ranga Reddy District, Telangana. Rooted in a family with a rich agricultural background and active political involvement, I was instilled with a profound sense of community and duty from an early age. My educational journey, which began at Girls High School in Kalwakurthy and extended to Ambedkar University, Hyderabad, where I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree, has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to serve effectively.
My political journey started in 1995 with the Janatha Dal Party. Over the years, I have taken on various roles, from a Vidya Volunteer to a private teacher, and later as the General Secretary of the BC Sankshema Sangam. As a key member of the Telangana Joint Action Committee and President of the BC Joint Action Committee, I have tirelessly championed the rights and interests of marginalized communities.
Joining the Bharatiya Janatha Party in 2022, I continue to strive for social justice and community upliftment. As the OBC Mahila Morcha State Convenor and now State Secretary, my commitment remains unwavering. My activism in the Telangana State movements underscores my dedication to the cause, reflecting my lifelong commitment to progress and reform.

Bhagya Lakshmi Malkedikar’s Early Years
Smt. Bhagya Lakshmi, a dynamic leader, was born on the 10th of March, 1976, in the Karmanghat of Ranga Reddy District, Telangana. Hailing from a family deeply rooted in agriculture, her parents were actively involved in politics at the Mandal level, instilling in her a sense of community and service from a young age.
Educational Pursuits
Bhagya Lakshmi’s educational journey began at Girls High School in Kalwakurthy, where she completed her SSC in 1993. She furthered her studies by attaining a degree in BA from Ambedkar University, Hyderabad. In 2024, she is undertaking a Master’s degree at Ambedkar University.
Early Passion for Service and Politics

Since childhood, Bhagya Lakshmi has nurtured a profound passion for public service and developed a strong grasp of political dynamics. Her political journey began in 1995 when she campaigned in the MPTC Elections as a candidate from the Janatha Dal Party.
A New Chapter: Serving as a Vidya volunteer
Driven by her passion for public service and the encouragement of her constituents, from 2000-03 Bhagya Lakshmi sought to broaden her impact by working as a Vidya Volunteer in Sultan Vulva Champapet Primary School. Her relentless efforts and commitment to her Society resonated with the electorate, leading to her success by working as a Volunteer.
Continuing the Journey: Teaching at LB Nagar
From 2003 to 2004, Bhagya Lakshmi transitioned to a role as a Private teacher at the Government Primary School in LB Nagar, Hyderabad. During this period, she dedicated herself to the educational development of her students, applying innovative teaching methods and fostering a nurturing learning environment. Her commitment to education and her ability to inspire young minds further cemented her reputation as a devoted and impactful educator.
Rising as a General Secretary: A Testament to People’s Trust
Undeterred by her initial setback, Bhagya Lakshmi redirected her focus and was elected as the BC Sankshema Sangam General Secretary in 2008 December. Through her relentless dedication and genuine connection with the people, she garnered widespread support and emerged victorious, assuming her role as a General Secretary representative for the BC Sankshema Sangam.
Activism and Leadership: Joining TJAC
From 2009 to 2014, Bhagya Lakshmi joined the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) under the leadership of Professor Kodandaram. Immersing herself fully in the movement, she actively participated in all its activities, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to the cause. During this period, Bhagya Lakshmi worked closely with Professor Kodandaram, contributing to various initiatives to advocate for the rights and aspirations of the people of Telangana.
Exemplary Leadership: Serving as BC JAC President
In 2009, Bhagya Lakshmi demonstrated exemplary leadership as the President of the Backward Classes Joint Action Committee (BC JAC) in Telangana. During her tenure, she championed the rights and interests of the backward classes, tirelessly working to address their concerns and improve their socio-economic conditions. Her strategic vision and dedication led to significant progress in mobilizing support, raising awareness, and advocating for policies that benefited the backward classes.
Roles and Responsibilities in BJP
On December 12, 2022, Bhagya Lakshmi was officially joined the Bharatiya Janatha Party (BJP) by Shri. Boora Narsaiah at the state office. During this event, 60 women’s associations also joined the BC Delegates party as part of the program.

Bhagya Lakshmi has been appointed as the Founder and Chairman of the National BC (Backward Classes) Women Federation from the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) in Telangana. This position marks a significant step in her political career, reflecting her commitment to advocating for the rights and development of backward classes, particularly women, in the state. As the leader of this federation, she will likely focus on addressing issues related to social justice, empowerment, and inclusivity for BC women, working within the framework of the BJP’s policies and objectives.

Empowering Women: Establishing Savings Community
Between 2006 and 2008, Bhagya Lakshmi spearheaded the establishment of savings communities in the Maruthi Nagar of Champapet area. Recognizing the potential for economic empowerment, she created ten savings communities, focusing on sensitizing women to the importance of financial independence. Additionally, she provided training in tailoring, equipping these women with valuable skills to enhance their livelihoods.
Mobilizing Resources: Empowering Women with Financial Assistance
Smt. Bhagya Lakshmi has been instrumental in mobilizing resources to uplift women in her community. She played a key role in distributing ration cards and voter identification cards, ensuring that women had access to essential services and could exercise their democratic rights. Beyond these efforts, she has also been actively providing financial assistance to women, helping them achieve economic stability and independence. Advocating for Women’s Reservation: Major Rally in Tirupati
On June 17, 2010, a large-scale rally was organized at Indira Maidanam in Tirupati to advocate for the approval of the Women’s Reservation Bill. The event drew a crowd of 2,000 women, all united in their demand for the bill’s passage. A key item on the meeting’s agenda was the call for specific quotas within the bill for SC, ST, and BC communities, highlighting the need for inclusive representation. This significant gathering underscored the collective determination to ensure that the bill addressed the diverse needs of all women in society.
Active Participation in Telangana Statehood Movements
In response to the call from various parties for the formation of Telangana state, Bhagya Lakshmi actively participated in numerous movements. Notably, in 2009, she took part in the Poru Deeksha organized by the BJP, standing alongside Kishan Reddy. As the President of the BC Association, she played a pivotal role in this event, demonstrating her steadfast commitment to the cause of Telangana statehood and advocating for the rights of her community.
Advocating at Jantar Mantar: Dharnas Organized by BC Mahila Samayka
In 2012, Bhagya Lakshmi played a pivotal role in organizing dharnas at Jantar Mantar, facilitated by BC Mahila Samayka. During these demonstrations, she delivered a memorandum directly to the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, addressing the pressing issues affecting the backward-class women. Today, her advocacy continues as she directs her efforts toward engaging with the current Central Minister, ensuring sustained attention to the community’s concerns at the highest echelons of government.

Bhagya Lakshmi has been a vocal advocate for the provision of scholarships to BC students pursuing education in prestigious institutions such as IITs, IIITs, and NITs. Additionally, she has actively collaborated with various central government sector organizations, leveraging her expertise and influence to further the cause of educational empowerment for backward-class students. Through her efforts, she strives to ensure that every deserving student has access to quality education and opportunities for advancement.
Advocating for Job Reservations
Bhagya Lakshmi has fervently demanded the implementation of reservation policies in government jobs. Her advocacy focuses on ensuring fair representation and opportunities for marginalized communities, aiming to create a more equitable workforce within the public sector. Through her persistent efforts, she strives to address systemic disparities and promote social justice in employment practices.
Forming the Other Backwards Central Committee: Opposing Mandal Recommendations
In 2018, Bhagya Lakshmi played a pivotal role in the formation of the Other Backwards Central Committee. She began a vigorous campaign against the Mandal Commission’s recommendations, advocating for the rights and interests of the backward classes. Through this organization, she has been at the forefront of the struggle, challenging policies she views as unjust and striving to achieve greater equity for her community.
Advocacy for OBC Rights: National Recognition and Comprehensive Reforms
Bhagya Lakshmi has been a tireless advocate for the elevation of the National BC Commission to a constitutional status akin to that of a Rajya. She has also campaigned for the establishment of a dedicated ministry for OBCs at the central level. Her efforts extend to securing national fellowships for OBC students and advocating for the implementation of reservations for BC, SC, and ST communities within the private sector. Bhagya Lakshmi Advocates for Enhanced OBC Representation and Rights
Bhagya Lakshmi has called for a substantial increase in OBC reservation to 52 percent and insisted that the census should accurately reflect this change. She also demanded the establishment of a dedicated Ministry for OBC at the central level, the abolition of the creamy layer concept, and the inclusion of OBC reservations within the judiciary. Additionally, she pressed for the implementation of reservations in the private sector and advocated for the inclusion of OBC, SC, ST, and minority women’s quotas in the women’s reservation bill, urging its swift passage in parliament.
Advocacy for Interest-Free Loans
Smt. Bhagya Lakshmi called for the provision of interest-free loans ranging from 50,000 to 10 lakhs for women’s groups.

Bhagya Lakshmi urged that the backlog posts in the state be filled, a comprehensive OBC caste census be conducted nationwide, and the full implementation of the 27% reservation in central government jobs.

- During the COVID-19 pandemic, Bhagya Lakshmi displayed extraordinary dedication to serving the public and providing relief to those facing the brunt of the crisis. As the pandemic unleashed its devastating impact on communities, Bhagya Lakshmi recognized the urgent need for support and took immediate action to alleviate the suffering of the vulnerable.
- First and foremost, Along with BJP Party Leaders, Bhagya Lakshmi distributed food, Glucose, and Juices in the Hospitals. With many people facing job losses and economic hardships due to lock downs and restrictions, Bhagya Lakshmi’s food donations came as a lifeline for families struggling to put food on the table. Her efforts ensured that no one in her vicinity had to endure the pangs of hunger during these challenging times.
- Bhagya Lakshmi’s compassion also extended to those who tragically lost their lives to COVID-19. She took it upon herself to volunteer and perform the last rites for those who passed away, especially for individuals who did not have family members or support in their final moments. Her selfless gesture brought comfort to the grieving families and offered solace during their darkest hours.
