Transitioning into electoral politics, I contested the 2001 elections, marking a departure from Naxalism and embracing a new path. EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION:
Bandru Shoba Rani, a prominent figure in Indian politics, was born on the 20th of July 1972 in Ramayampet, Medak District, Telangana.
In 1987, Shoba Rani earned her Secondary School Certificate from Zilla Parishad High School in Pragathi Dharmaram, demonstrating early dedication to her education. Following this, she completed her Intermediate education at Government Junior College in Ramayampet in 1989, showcasing a commitment to academic excellence.
1997 marked a significant milestone in Shoba Rani’s educational journey as she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree from Ambedkar Open University in Alair, Telangana.
CAREER IN PROFESSION:
In 1995, Bandru Shoba Rani made her initial foray into the political landscape, marking the inception of her remarkable journey. Taking the initiative, she established and launched a Printing Press Company, showcasing early signs of her entrepreneurial spirit. POLITICAL JOURNEY IN JANASHAKTHI
Bandru Shobharani actively participated in the political landscape from 1989 to 1995. Her dedication led to her appointment as the District Executive Member in Ramayampeta, situated in the Medak District. This role showcased her commitment and influence within the political circles.
Strategic Role in the Conflict of 1991-1992:
During the intense conflict between 1991 and 1992, where the Janashakthi confronted the challenges posed by Nalgonda Mallu Swaraj, Bandru Shobharani emerged as a pivotal figure. In this critical period, she played a crucial role and served as the BD Workers Sangam Trade Union District Leader from 1992 onwards. Her active involvement demonstrated her leadership qualities and dedication to the cause.

Anti-Alcohol Campaign:

Vice President Appointment at 3rd Maha Sabha:
Shoba Rani’s dedication and leadership qualities came to the forefront when she was appointed as the Vice President for the 3rd Maha Sabha organised in Warangal by the Telangana Ikya Vedika. This recognition underscored her significant role within the organisation, showcasing her commitment to the movement’s objectives. As Vice President, Shoba Rani played a crucial role in the success of the Sabha, further solidifying her position as a key figure in the Telangana Ikya Vedika and contributing to the broader goals of the Telangana Movement.
Telangana United Forum Success in Warangal
During the Telangana United Forum held in Warangal, Bandru Shobarani played a pivotal role in ensuring the success of every meeting conducted at the Residence. Notably, her involvement in coordinating the transportation of people from Siddipet road to the Warangal Mahasabha in 70 trucks during the 2001 Telangana Union Conference significantly contributed to the overall success of the Mahasabha.
A CRUCIAL TRANSITION TO TRS PARTY
In the realm of Telangana politics, Bandru Shoba Rani emerged as a pivotal figure during the Telangana United Forum in Warangal. Her significant role in ensuring the success of the Residence meetings during the 2002 Telangana Union Conference showcased her dedication and organisational prowess.
Bandru Shoba Rani’s association with the Telangana United Congress in the Warangal Mahasabha marked a crucial juncture in her political journey. Recognising the potential for collective action, she and Professor Jayashankar and Kesha Rao Jadhav responded to the call to join the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Party. This decision was a strategic move to consolidate efforts and support KCR on a unified platform. The pivotal meeting that led to Bandru Shoba Rani’s association with the TRS Party took place at her residence. Esteemed leaders, including Prof. Jayashankar and Kesha Rao Jadhav, acknowledged her influence and sought her commitment to the cause.
After her affiliation with the TRS Party, Shoba Rani displayed commitment by actively engaging in various party programs and meetings. Her dedication bore testimony to her vision for the growth and development of the TRS Party, showcasing her as a driving force within the party’s organisational framework.
Role as Telangana State Mahila President:
Recognising her exceptional contributions, Shoba Rani earned the esteemed position of Telangana State Mahila President of TRS. This appointment was a testament to her keen involvement in the party’s development and her commitment to advocating for women’s rights and well-being within Telangana’s political landscape.

Key Participation in Public Meeting on GO 610:
On December 27, 2001, Bandru Sobha Rani played a pivotal role in the public meeting focused on Government Order 610 (GO 610). This event, organized by Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao under the auspices of Telangana Ikya Vedika, saw Bandru Shobha Rani actively participating and contributing to the discourse surrounding this crucial government order.
Significant Role in Telangana Sadhana
During KCR’s tenure as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi chairman from 2002 to 2004, Bandru Shoba Rani continued to play a vital role in the struggle for Telangana Sadhana. Her leadership during the 2003 protests in Narkatpally, where 5,000 people gathered for over two hours, demonstrated her commitment to the cause. Under Bandru Shoba Rani’s leadership, the Narkatpally protest faced adversity as the police resorted to deploying pepper spray and sand, subjecting protesting women to brutal treatment, including lathi-charging. Despite the challenges, her perseverance and determination stood as a testament to her dedication to the first Telangana Sadhana Movement women’s group.
In the aftermath of the protest, senior Telangana officials faced charges related to the treatment meted out during the demonstration. Bandru Shoba Rani’s leadership role during this critical period solidified her position as a resilient and influential figure in the political landscape of Telangana.
A Pioneering Hunger Strike:
Shoba Rani’s pivotal moment came when she spearheaded a demand for the inflow of Nagarjuna Sagar water into fluoride-affected villages. This impassioned plea led to a hunger strike organised by elected leaders in Nalagonda and a road blockade (Rasta Roko) orchestrated by women leaders in Narketpalli. The women faced lathi charges, creating a seismic wave of awareness and dissent within the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Party.
Shoba Rani’s commitment to the cause of Telangana statehood manifested in various padayatras, protests, and hunger strikes. Notably, she undertook a 100 km trek from Kodad to Haliya to strengthen the party’s base in Nalgonda district, aligning herself with the vision set by KCR in 2003.
Jogulamba Gadwel Padayatra:
In a significant move, Shoba Rani actively participated in the Jogulamba Gadwel Padayatra, focusing on the Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme in the Jogulamba-Gadwal district. Her efforts aimed to spotlight the alleged political games played by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao regarding river water sharing issues with Andhra Pradesh.
Telangana Rashtra Samithi Party’s Mass Hunger Strike:
Bandru Shobha Rani assumed a crucial role in orchestrating a mass hunger strike advocating for Telangana’s equitable share in Krishna Godavari river waters. This initiative reflected her dedication to pressing regional concerns through peaceful and impactful means.
Telangana Rashtra Samithi Leaders Drive Fund Mobilization:
In 2003, Bandru Shobha Rani, alongside leaders from the Telangana rashtra Samithi Party, actively engaged in a “Kooli” program aimed at mobilizing funds. The program, focused on financial support, showcased their commitment to resourcefulness and community involvement. During this initiative, leaders collaborated to raise funds, demonstrating a collective effort towards the party’s financial objectives.
Shaping TRS Till 2004:
Shoba Rani’s impact extends beyond movements and padayatras; she played a pivotal role in the development of the TRS party until 2004. Her active involvement underscores her dedication to the growth and success of the party.

ACTIVE PARTICIPATION IN TELANGANA MOVEMENT
Shoba Rani’s involvement in the Telangana Movement has been marked by her active participation in pivotal activities such as padayatras, Rasta Rokos, and protests.
With a deep dedication to the cause, she became an integral part of the Telangana Ikya Vedika, an organisation led by Professor Jayashankar. In the pursuit of the movement’s goals, Shoba Rani engaged in various hall meetings, programs, and padayatras, demonstrating her commitment across the stretch from Basara to Siricilla.
ENTRY INTO TELUGU DESAM PARTY(2005-2019)
Dissatisfied with the lack of ticket allocation for the Telangana movement activists, Shoba Rani joined the Telugu Desam Party in 2005. Her active involvement and commitment marked her association with the TDP. Over the years, she held various significant positions within the party hierarchy, including State Secretary, State Spokesperson, State General Secretary, State Women President, and Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri District President.
Contributions and Initiatives:
During her tenure in the TDP, Shoba Rani played a pivotal role in several key initiatives. Notably, she took a leading role in the movement against Cheap Liquor, organising dharnas and protests to address its adverse impact on the health of the middle class.
She also championed the cause for the formation of new districts in Telangana, actively participating in a padayatra from Alair to Yadagirigutta. Shoba Rani was a vocal advocate for the inflow of Tapaspally Village water to the Alair constituency, leading a padayatra from Tapaspally Village to Rajapet mandal and engaging in a determined hunger strike for four days.
Shoba Rani demonstrated her commitment to public service by selling five acres of her personal land for the formation of the Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri District. In a remarkable display of public support, she initiated a One Lakh Signature Collection Program for the formation of the new state in the name of Lord Yadadri Laxmi Narasimha Swamy, symbolising her dedication to the cause.
Bandru Shobarani, the State General Secretary of the TDP, has been actively addressing concerns in the Alair constituency. She expressed concern over the arrest of leaders attempting to communicate difficulties to the Chief Minister, alleging suppression of opposition by the Telangana government.
Gandha Malla and Baswapuram Reservoirs
Shobarani emphasised the urgent need to construct the Gandha Malla and Baswapuram reservoirs to address regional irrigation issues. The demand stems from the lack of progress in construction over the past three and a half years, leading to a potential movement under TDP’s leadership if the concerns are not addressed.
Challenges Faced by Auto Workers
Concerns were raised about the endangerment of 300 auto workers due to an excessive number of RTC buses on Yadadri Hill. Shobarani demanded a resolution to this issue and immediate assistance to the affected families, highlighting police charges faced by the auto workers during their protests.
Allegations Against Chief Minister KCR
Shobarani accused Chief Minister KCR of deceiving the public and avoiding discussions on critical concerns. The need for cooperative efforts to irrigate the region through Tapasupalli was stressed, with a threat of launching a movement under TDP’s leadership if necessary actions were not taken.
Detention of TDP Leaders
During a morning vigil, Shobarani, along with other TDP leaders, was detained by the police. She reiterated the unjust nature of these arrests and accused the Prime Minister of not honouring previous commitments, further emphasising the need for swift action on infrastructure projects.
Caste Issues Immediate Resolution Needed
Shobarani highlighted the immediate resolution of caste issues and assistance required for affected families. The TDP leader insisted on the government’s prompt intervention to address the concerns raised by the auto workers and resolve the ongoing issues
Withdrawal of Lawsuits
TDP leaders, including Shobarani, called for the withdrawal of lawsuits and the release of defendants. They criticised the KCR government’s actions, likening them to those of a tyrant, and attributed these legal actions to factionalism driven by rising popularity within the state.
Compensation for Displaced Residents
In a constituency-level meeting, Shobarani urged the government to compensate displaced residents of the Gandhamalla and Baswapur projects. The TDP leader advocated for adherence to the 2013 Land Acquisition Act, proposing a land-for-land and villages-for-landless approach.
From Resistance Movements to Initiatives
