Early Life and Education

Srinivasa Rao was born on 21 August 1972 into a rural middle-class family in Eluru, West Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh. He is the son of Mr. Karri Sanysi Rao and Mrs. Karri Jogulamma.

Growing up in a modest household in this culturally rich region of coastal Andhra, he was shaped by the values of discipline, hard work, and community that characterized many middle-class families of the time. His early education laid a solid foundation for his future endeavours.

In 1986, he completed his secondary education from K.P.D.T. High School in Agraharam, Eluru. This period of schooling not only provided him with academic grounding but also instilled a sense of perseverance and curiosity that would later influence his personal and professional journey.

Political Journey of Karri Srinivasa Rao

From a young age, Karri Srinivasa Rao drew inspiration from several prominent national and regional leaders. Among the most significant influences were the late Sri Rajiv Gandhi, known for his modern vision of governance, and the late Sri Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy, whose people-centric policies left a lasting imprint. These figures shaped his understanding of public service and motivated him to pursue a life dedicated to political engagement and community welfare.

Entry into the Indian National Congress
Srinivasa Rao formally began his political career in 1994, soon after completing his education. He joined the Indian National Congress (INC), a party with deep historical roots founded by Dadabhai Naoroji and then led by Sonia Gandhi. Guided by a genuine desire to address the everyday needs of citizens and contribute modestly yet meaningfully to public life, he committed himself to the party’s principles and organizational work.

Role as Youth Congress City General Secretary
In 1994, he was appointed Youth Congress City General Secretary of West Godavari. Over the next seventeen years, until 2011, he worked tirelessly to strengthen the party’s presence at the grassroots level. His responsibilities included mobilizing young workers, coordinating campaign activities, and supporting the party’s electoral efforts with consistent dedication and organizational discipline.

Association with Senior Leadership
Throughout his years in the Congress, Srinivasa Rao remained a close follower of Alla Nani, the then Minister for Family Welfare and Medical Education of Andhra Pradesh. Under this guidance, he actively represented the party’s interests, implemented its programmes, and contributed to various social development initiatives while strictly adhering to the organization’s policies and guidelines.

Transition to the YSR Congress Party
Following the untimely demise of former Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy, Srinivasa Rao left the Indian National Congress in 2011. He subsequently joined the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP), founded by Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy. This move reflected his continued commitment to the welfare-oriented politics that had earlier inspired him.

Service as Corporator of the 12th Division, Eluru
During the local body elections, his active involvement and dedication earned him the honorary recognition as Corporator of the 12th Division of Eluru in West Godavari. Building on this trust, the people formally elected him to the same position in 2014. In this role, he focused on zonal-level development, carefully executed party initiatives, and remained attentive to the day-to-day concerns of residents, thereby strengthening public confidence in his leadership.

Establishing Political Roots: Aligning with Telugu Desam Party (Since 2024)
In 2024, ahead of the Assembly (MLA) elections, Karri Srinivasa Rao joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) under the leadership of its senior leaders. This decision marked a new chapter in his political journey, allowing him to align with the TDP’s vision of development and governance while continuing his long-standing commitment to public service and the advancement of the region.

In recognition of his perseverance, dedication, and continuous service, the Telugu Desam Party appointed Karri Srinivasa Rao as the Senior Party Leader in 2024. In this position, he has diligently carried out the responsibilities assigned to him and has worked for the welfare of the community, earning the appreciation of the people through his sincere and compassionate approach.

Appointment as a Eluru Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor

The Deputy Mayor election of the Eluru Municipal Corporation was formally concluded in a smooth and official manner. District In-charge Joint Collector and District Revenue Officer Shri. Visweswara Rao supervised and conducted the entire election process during the general body meeting of the Corporation. Following the successful completion of the election, he presented the certificate of confirmation to the newly elected Deputy Mayor, Karri Srinivasa Rao.

Involvement in Party Activities

• Srinivasa Rao is a committed party activist who regularly takes part in the programmes organized by the party. He spends time meeting people and explaining the party’s ideals, vision, and achievements in a clear and simple way so that ordinary citizens understand its importance and values.
  
• Whenever issues or problems arise in the area, he is among the first to step forward. He works actively to address the concerns of the people and tries to find practical solutions, showing strong leadership and a sense of responsibility towards the party and the community.
  
• He has played an important role in strengthening the party at the grassroots level and in building social awareness. He also took part in the SC Classification Contradiction Movement, raising his voice for the rights and fair treatment of people belonging to the Scheduled Caste communities.
  
• During elections, Srinivasa Rao works with full dedication. He goes door to door, meets voters personally, listens to their problems, and campaigns hard for the party’s candidates so that the party can succeed in his locality.
  
• At both mandal and village levels, he organizes and actively participates in party meetings. In these gatherings, he delivers motivational speeches that encourage young people and emerging leaders to take interest in politics and public service.
  
• He has organized several programmes in the village aimed at strengthening the party’s presence and improving its work among the people. He respectfully accepts responsibilities given by senior leaders and works sincerely to resolve any issues that come up.
• Srinivasa Rao has consistently raised his voice for reservation rights for people from lower-caste communities. At the same time, he has stood with farmers and demanded better and fairer prices for their crops so that their hard work is properly rewarded.

Active Contribution in Village Development and Social Activities

• Srinivasa Rao has carried out several important developmental works in the village. These include laying cement concrete (CC) roads, installing street lights, clearing and improving drainage systems, and solving drinking water problems by enhancing the quality and supply of water for the residents.
  
• He takes his responsibilities seriously and always keeps the welfare of the people in the village and surrounding area in mind. He has given financial help to poor families and supported them in every possible way whenever they faced difficulties.
  
• On national festivals such as Republic Day and Independence Day, he organizes and attends programmes in schools. He also distributes prizes to students who take part and win in sports and other competitions, encouraging their active participation.
  
• His service is not limited only to his own village. He has extended financial assistance and other forms of help to needy people across the district whenever required.
  
• He has supported elderly and poor residents of the village by providing them with essential items needed for daily life and by helping them during times of financial hardship.
  
• As part of environmental protection efforts, he has actively taken part in the Haritha Haram programme. He has planted saplings in the village and encouraged others to join hands in making the surroundings greener.
  
• He has organized several social service activities in the village. These include providing food to elderly people and orphan children, and arranging mineral water for the villagers to ensure access to clean drinking water.
  
• He has paid special attention to the problems of students. He has worked hard on issues related to fee reimbursement and scholarships, and has made sincere efforts to ensure that eligible students receive their scholarships without delay.
  
• By organizing awareness seminars in schools, he has guided students about the importance of education and has tried to create a strong foundation for their brighter future.
  
• Many service programmes have been conducted under his involvement, such as distributing blankets to beggars, clothes to the poor, and food to orphaned children. He has also given financial support to migrant workers and needy families, and free meals have been arranged every year for orphans and the elderly.
  
• He consistently raises people’s issues and works for their overall welfare. Through his efforts, several colony-level development programmes have been completed, bringing visible improvement to the lives of the residents.

Service During the COVID-19 Pandemic

• During the first and second waves of COVID-19, Srinivasa Rao provided both financial and humanitarian support to people affected by the lockdown. He responded with care and compassion, helping those who were in distress and offering further assistance to families who suffered because of the restrictions.
  
• He acted generously throughout the crisis by supporting people in need. He distributed face masks, hand sanitizers, and meals to the less fortunate, and also gave financial help to those who had lost their livelihood due to the lockdown.
  
• Even while following COVID-19 social distancing rules, he arranged the distribution of essential commodities. Special attention was given to areas facing water scarcity so that people could manage their basic needs during the difficult period.
  
• Despite the restrictions, Srinivasa Rao reached out to help those affected by the lockdown. He supplied vegetables and fruits to villagers, homeless people, and municipal workers, while carefully following the safety guidelines in place.
  
• He regularly helped the poor by providing masks, hand sanitizers, food packets, and monetary assistance so that they could protect themselves and meet their daily requirements.
  
• An awareness programme was organized under his involvement to educate people about the importance of social distancing and other precautionary measures needed to control the spread of the coronavirus.
  
• After the peak of the outbreak, sodium hypochlorite solution was sprayed throughout the village as a sanitization measure to reduce the risk of infection and protect the residents.
  
• In response to the call given by the Prime Minister, a COVID immunization drive was organized. Efforts were made to create awareness among the public about the importance of taking the free coronavirus vaccine.
  
• During the pandemic, a door-to-door survey was conducted. Through this survey, people were informed about the virus, its symptoms, and the necessary precautions they should follow to stay safe. Free medicines were also distributed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Along with the medicines, awareness was created about the need to remain careful and take preventive steps to avoid contracting the disease.
